I am going to Krung Sri bank in Bangkok to request the bank letter for the retirement visa.

Do you know how long does it take to receive the bank letter?

What I have heard is about 1 hour, but I want to make sure.

Because, I couldn't communicate very clearly with the bank officer by phone.

Also, can I go and then ask for the financial certificate?

or is there specific name to call the bank letter that the bank officer will be understood?

Because, what I found was that Bank officer in general doesn't really know about the retirement visa.

Thank you for your time.

I am very appreciated it in advance.

Are you applying for a non immigrant visa at immigration or a one year extension of stay based upon retirement?

Not Krungsri Bank but here is an of one that should help them understand what you want. bank letter.pdf

It should not take long for them to issue it.

If applying for an extension at Chaeng Wattana immigration there are bank branches of most on the ground floor of the building will understand what you want. You could go to the bank before submitting your application.

I get a letter each year for my retirement extension at the Krungsri branch in the Chaengwattana Immigration building and it takes about 30 minutes to get the letter.  When I use to keep my retirement extension money in the Bangkok Bank branch at Chaengwattana immigration it only took the branch about 15 minutes to generate the letter.

It shouldn't take any branch very long to generate the letter....it's a simple letter just confirming you have an acct with them and as of today you have X-amount in the acct....throw in a bank rep signature and bank stamp...done...finished.

Thank you for all.

I do really appreciate of all the comments.

They are all very helpful.

Then, I can go to the bank without worries tomorrow.

Have a great day::

Read post #3.

On the day your attending CW for your extension have all your docs already filled in tm7 etc. Walk straight past all the folk filling in forms. Go to desk and get your queue L number. Walk out go down stairs to your bank and obtain "bank letter" make sure you side over 100baht for activity on the day. Clerk will provide you last page photocopy of bankbook to show io.

Then back to L area. Check you won't be seen prior to lunch break. 12pm.

Go chill. Back 1.pm

I got my letter from Krungsri in less than one hour, it really depends on how busy they are on that day.

It's a very simple letter saying you have total balance of x in your account today. Just say immigration wants the letter. It costs 100 baht.

You might as well ask them to print the bank statement of the last 3 to 6 months transactions from their computer. It's free.

Of course, it must be stamped and signed.

Remember to update the balance on your bank passbook on that day as well.

Does it need to be on that day?

Or is it possible to be within 7 days?

I am planning to go to the immigration office on next monday.

But, I want to get the bank letter and update the passbook tomorrow Friday.

If you apply at Chaeng Wattana (Bangkok) it has to be same day.

See post #2.

I see. Do you think would it be ok to receive the bank letter tomorrow, and deposit 100bt, then update the passbook on that day ?

Because, I want to save the time.

I worry if I ask for the bank letter on that day, it would take longer than 20mins upto 1hr.

I would miss the queue. That is what I worry about.

Last October I got my bank letter at Kasikorn on Saturday and applied for my  1 year extension at CW on Monday. I am using the 800,000k banked money method. If you are using the monthly income method then the letter you want from the bank will be different than mine.

Separate from the bank letter, CW will want to see a transaction updated in your bankbook on the same day.

Did you bother read posts. Have a read of mine post #5.

Have all your stuff ready. Tm7 etc.

Walk straight to desk that issues queue numbers. That's not the first area which is handing out forms etc to crazy folk. Obtain your L ticket. Walk out and downstairs to banks. Walk in look dumb and they will give you #. You will already have photocopy of identity page bank book and all pages required. The charge for letter most likely 1or200baht. Also slide over 100baht for deposit to show activity. Tell clerk to give you photocopy of updated last page. They will already know that.

Walk back to L area.

Wait. Most likely till they shut for lunch 12.

Then re-enter 1pm.

My advice. Arrive 11am. You will achieve what I outlined before lunch. Most likely passport in hand about 3pm

Personally, I like to get there at 8:30 when the doors open. There will be a lot of people that got there earlier but they file into the main area in about 15 minutes. Section L, where you will be going to, will not have a lot of people but the process takes longer. I arrived at 8:30 and had my year extension by 10:30am. It's not always that quick.

Kasikorn bank has a machine to update passbooks so I am able to update my passbook without having to go into the office. I already had my bank letter.
