Hospital In Bangkok

Featured Replies

Hi Family People

I was wondering if anyone could reccomend a hospital in central Bangkok where my wife could get her 3rd monthly check up (for baby, if it's not clear!). She will be at around 14 weeks

We are in the process of moving back to the UK and I would like my wife to see a Doctor just before we fly - does anyone have a place/Doctor that they have experienced and can reccommend?

Thanks for any input. Although, I am looking for experiences rather than someone reccomending Bumrungrad - on the basis of it being the most expensive - but if you have good experiences from there then that would be different!

Those checkups are rather a routine and if ultrasound is needed then just go with the best - Bumrungrad or Samitivej, they have the latest and greatest gear.

While living nearby the Kluaynamtai hospital, we were using it as it was 5 mins walk. Just prior to delivery we went to Samitivej (somebody recommended it) and were surprised to see how much modern their gear was.

What's the damage at Bumrungrad or Samitivej?

I am used to the concept of being a walking dollar sign in these kind of places. Chiang Mai Ram hospital is a great believer in this concept.

Samitivej:

Vaccinations and regular checkups (usualy done together) were 1600-2200B.

Only one unscheduled visit (sore throat and cold) with medications was 1200B.

The baby has been healthy, over 3 years the total health care expenses with Samitivej were less than 15K baht, fully refundable at that.

DSK, let me recommend Dr Sankiat. He has a peculiar manner (and hairstyle) but is very knowledgable and trained in the States.

I like to change them from time to time - actually, I'm getting tired of the hairy Howard Hughes - maybe it's time to find a new one...

Hi. I am pregnant myself and use a great Doctor at Bumrungrad (Dr Anong). However, we had a look at a few other hospitals, just to see what's on offer elsewhere. The hospital I liked the most out of all the others was the 'Bangkok Christian Hospital' in Silom. The doctor we consulted was Dr Chartree, he was very nice. In the end we decided to have the baby at Bumrungrad, but it was a tough decision as I was very impressed by the service at the BKK Christian, and especially with the staff we met when we 'toured' the maternity ward. For the consultation with Dr Chartree (which included a check-up), we paid less than half than what we normally pay at the Bumrungrad.

Hi dan sai kid

congrats to you & your wife!

You can phone up the hospitals and ask how much they charge for ultrasound. You may want to be specific about what kind of ultrasound you want though. And there are extras involved: doctors fees, nurses fees, etc.

having said that you can get a quote, I've found quite large variances between different docs for the same thing!

When I asked at Bangkok Christian Hospital, they were going to end up about half the cost of Samitivej.
