There have been numerous threads about the 3 people killed in the gold shop robbery.   Which of the following best expresses your opinion on what the outcome should be for the defendant?

I think, TV and the reporter of this topic, should refrain from such a question in public, as if to prevent people thinking, we have nor should have any say in the punishment of the suspect.

Let the justice system take care that is far better, than populist questions that could provoke revenge in some people

And let people pay for him to live ? No, I think put into a room with the kids relatives and a few baseball bats.

I doubt the courts could issue a death by baseball bat verdict. I'd also rather avoid turning innocent people into murderers.

I wouldn't mind paying an extra baht or two in tax per month for proper punishment.

in The Daily News today, it says the people who knew him well all agreed the motive for robbery for his acumulating debts, nothing about an affair.

He was an avid player of the computer game pubg, a game that involves killing everyone else on an

island.

It seems the idiot couldn't distinguish betwen reality and a dumb game.

He shot the woman three times because his gloved finger got stuck on the trigger (so he claims).

His stray bullet ricochetted and killed the 2 year old.

He got such a small amount of gold because he arrived near to closing time so most of the gold had already been put away.

He's forfeited the right to live imo.

I have no problem with death penalty for murderers, paedos and rapists* - as long as we are sure they are guilty

And how many of those 'murderers, paedos, etc have been found to be innocent after death or a long prison sentence.

Quote

The study, published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences determined that at least 4% of people on death row were and are likely innocent.

I think the Lopburi guy will get a life sentence. He'll then teach while in jail and due to good behaviour, and with palms greased, he'll be out in 5 years.

This one seems pretty black and white. I voted "yes".

Koh tao is not so black and white.

Depends on whose side you're looking at it. The legal side says they're guilty. Not much can be now done for them. Innocent or not.

So we will have public sentiment deciding what happens from now on... yeah that will work.

Indeed, what has become of the world when a predominately expat forum is voting for the death penalty in a country where they are "guests" it has nothing whatsoever to do with us!

A life in prison is still a life. He will eat, sleep, exercise, converse/socialise with the other inmates, see the sun rise and set every day.

His victims have been robbed of all these pleasures, and more.

For extreme crimes like his, I think the death penalty is justified.

If we were in the West I'd agree with you, but considering prisons here are not nice places to be, I'd like to see this man who had everything see how rubbish life really can be. You can count the days if you like before he tries to top himself.

They're not as bad as people think they are. My BiL has been in 3 times. Once for attempted murder and twice for supplying drugs. I've been to 3 prison open days and life ain't that bad. So much so that i think within a short time of release my BiL will be back in.

No we won’t because neither the word of “us” nor generally the public carries much wait.

*I would add 'politicians', but I don't think we are allowed to....

Sad, but true ????
