Thailand officially had 66,558,935 residents as of December 31, the government formally announced on Thursday (January 30).

That figure includes 944,778 non-Thai residents – 494,325 males and 450,453 females.

The 65,614,157 Thai nationals counted in the census are inversely split in gender ratio – 32,110,775 males and 33,503,382 females.

Bangkok had 5,666,264 residents – 5,556,631 Thais (2,609,200 males, 2,947,431 females) and 109,633 non-Thai residents (60,116 males, 49,517 females).

Nakhon Ratchasima is the next most populous province with 2,648,927 people.

That’s 2,644,345 Thai nationals (1,301,227 males, 1,343,118 females) and 4,582 non-Thais (2,717 males, 1,865 females).

Does that number include all the taxidrivers from RoiEt? Or massageladies from Udon? A few more people from Baan Nok are "residents" in Bangkok.

666 ...................what an auspicious number ..............not.

With Prayuth at the helm it was always going to be 666.

666 is definately a number to be wary of. The other I find is 664 - the neighbor of the beast.

The census is based on the Tabian Baan so the current census is a vast understatement. Unofficial figures are at over 10 million for Bangkok's population.

Yeah there are alone 4 mio work permits issued according to thailalands own government...so there cant be just 1 million foreigners here.

The number of foreigners are including the workers from Myanmar, Cambodia, etc. I guess. Would be interesting to know the numbers from every country.

We all know that there are far more foreigners than this number, much lower than the reality.
This proves that hundreds of thousands of Burmese, Laotian, Cambodian continue to be treated like slaves on the fishing boats, in the canneries and in the construction of buildings;
these hundreds of thousands of foreigners are illegal and therefore not countable.

Nah, you're thinkin of 665. 664 is Mrs Jones from the corner shop. She is a bit rough, but I certainly wouldn't call her a beast. ????

Pretty nonsensical considering that many Thais never officially "move house" when they move. Most of my Thai friends in Bangkok aren't registered in Bangkok, which explains the low number of Bangkok residents (to the point that it makes that figure meaningless).

They also seem to have forgotten a few million migrant workers. I wonder which foreigners they count, only permanent residents? Surely there are a lot more foreigners than what they state in Thailand on all kinds of "non-resident" visas and extensions.

This is the number of "residents", so they probably don't include "temporary visitors"

So yet another figure with no qualification as to how it was arrived at, or explanation of who is left out ...... as said, if from the blue book just tells you who was registered there, not where they actually live - be it Bangkok or indeed another country! And do they count those on Yellow books? I think that many expats are not included, as well as the 'guest workers' from neighbouring countries.

And that means at least 500,000 more women than men. That is a good thing all the way around.
