WHO praises Thailand’s efforts to combat PM2.5

BANGKOK(NNT) - The World Health Organization (WHO) has commended Thailand on its efforts to address high levels of particulate matter of 2.5 microns or less (PM2.5), while suggesting the country adopt its air quality guidelines.

 

Dr. Lesley Onyon, a WHO representative, said today that Thailand has shown its commitment to raising awareness and providing information about the PM2.5 issue to the public. As a result, many people have become more alert about the situation. Relevant agencies will have to do more to raise public awareness about the primary sources of PM2.5 and encourage people to help reduce vehicle emissions by using public transport.

 

According to Thai standards, the safe level of PM2.5 is 50 micrograms per cubic meter of air, but the WHO air quality guidelines say that PM2.5 exposure during any 24-hour period should not exceed 25 micrograms per cubic meter. Thailand, as a developing country, will consider various factors, such as the environment, society and the economy, before gradually adjusting its safety threshold to match the WHO guidelines. There are no obligations, but the country will determine the most appropriate level according to the situation.

I'm happy we live in age where everyone is skeptical of everyone and everything, and it's PUBLIC (not just in secret groups in big cities, like in the past.....Church was against this!!! LOL).  

 

The WHO is likely a joke.  They probably just got some free monthly passes to Pattaya.

"Starting to be" always has been if you look at their history, you have to dig deep for the truth, same as every large government sponsored organisation.

That's the sad part. The air issues in Thailand are relatively "easy" to solve. Even a city like Beijing can address their air issues and they produce half the world's <deleted>.

That is all it says. It doesn't mention the fact that the Government and local authorities conttinue to ignore the roott causes of the problem.

What they did was tell sugar cane processors to pay less for burnt cane.  It has worked in some areas but not in many.

Been posting on that repeatedly since WHO initially failed to declare the virus a worldwide emergency and started praising China. Look at the leadership. Head of WHO is a long time Ethiopian politician with a track record of covering up epidemics in his own country. China also has a stranglehold on Ethiopia's debt. This is as corrupt as it can be.

Was she actually in Thailand to observe things when she said this? Looking at her twitter feed, it only shows her in India, where she lives and works.
