Drivers license

Featured Replies

I never needed a car before so i didnt bother getting a license at home, but now living here in Thailand i need to drive without the police ripping me off all the time. Anyone have any advise on how to get a pirate drivers license or if i do it the proper way, where do i do it and do the provide the questions in english or thai only?

Don't expect advise on pirate license.

Proper license.

Start with reading the pinned topics in the Motor forum.

As you don't have a home license you will have to do the full program with theory and practical driving test (on the yard).

One poster wrote that the theory test in English has changed and questions found on the net are outdated. Maybe someone can confirm.

To be sure:

You have a Non-O and/or live on one year extension?

You will need proof of address for which different offices accept different documents.

You need an appointment (can take weeks).

The office is the "DLT" (Department of Land Transport).

Where do you live (province/district)?

Dude, if I was starting from scratch with no license, I would consider a driving school.

My bride did it couple years ago.  She had never had license and never driven a car.  Couple hours with instructor for 10 days and she had her license.  The school took care of everything, all she had to do was show up at License office at time they set up.

Now, she still can't drive but she has a license.

YMMV

You would have to ask/checkout whether they can handle foreigners, English language test.

A find from the net (driving school in Chaiyaphum):

DLT office in Chaiyaphum:

On "Ongkan Sai 2" (Ongkan 2nd rd).
