The Thai police have made it rather easy to report foreigners on an overstay by calling 1178.   Would you ever report someone for overstay?   Please select the option which most closely matches your opinion.

The old guy that is not disturbing anyone I do not see a problem.  A father or mother that is living day to day supporting their family and not causing anyone harm AGAIN NO PROBLEM.

The person that is out on the street bragging about itand just being a lazy ass happy that he is doing it or that I think has issues definitely.

In my work, I had to get a copy of everyone's documentation for work, including the passport.   I ran into a fair number of overstayers, including a guy who had been in the country since the 70's on what had to have been an enormously long overstay.   His British passport had expired in the early 1980's and there was no Thaivisa, so he would have been on overstay again.   He had married, divorced, but had a daughter going to University.   He had a everything in his daughters name, such as the apartment, utilities etc.

I assume he was never deported.   He had a heart attack (he was in his late 60's, I believe) and was in the hospital.   I wondered if they'd spring him on overstay, but I assume his daughter took care of things.

I ran into a few real butt-holes who I really was tempted to make a call to immigration, but they all had wives and kids and as much as I disliked the person, I knew a few of the family members and they didn't deserve to lose a father or a husband over my vindictiveness.

It should also be remembered that some years back it was not at all difficult to stay in Thailand and no one seemed to care very much about your immigration status.   In the past years, that has changed drastically.

It seems quite popular on this planet for some people to go around telling people they own parts of it and try and stop others from ambulating over imaginary lines like little kids saying don't come on my side of the line.

would never do anything that might bring me in contact with Thai police if not absolutely necessary

I do my immigration/visa/re-entry stuff with the police - and that's it

Well, most are not going to admit they are on overstay.

Pattaya is full of them.

Mostly criminals and scammers, bail jumpers.

"I need to stay off the radar" types.

I have met a few and not reported them.  But, maybe I should have the longer I am here the more I dislike this behavior.

Never ever would I report an overstayer! It's not my business, I'm no denunciator.

The people in their fancy BMW smart-cars have to do their job without me.

I would if they weren't western

Usually these ones are up to no good

Someone elses visa status is not my business. And even if I know what their status is I dont want it becoming my business.

Yes there are those who just love to go tell teacher but luckily I am not friends with anyone of that type. Nor will I ever be.

Oh really? Never?

Where do you draw the line?

They are involved to your knowledge with illicit activity with the underaged.

You would do nothing?

Does your thinking include your home country?

Because it seems lots of people here want to be able to stay in Thailand or anywhere else they want forever without any conditions.

But then the same people writing comments about all those bad foreigners back home. Why do they let them in? Why don't they throw them out? Arrest them and deport them...

Well that question does not even need asking, but as I don't

associate with paedo's or drug dealers ,your question is moot.

If I knew someone was a pedophile I would report them for being a pedophile.

Not for their visa status.

Not my business. If he is a danger then he will run into the police himself sooner or later.

Why would I report a victimless crime?

Man overstays 1 day .... show me the victim.

I never reported anybody and I knew lots of people on overstay. Some time ago people talked about that because nobody really cared so it was often no secret.

There are some real bad guys in Thailand and nobody would miss them if they would not live here anymore. I wouldn't hesitate to report a$%holes like that (anonymously). But somehow they are mostly smart enough to make sure their visa is ok or at least they don't talk about it. Otherwise people would likely have reported them already.

Nope.
