Immigration likes to make our lives miserable here, why would we help them?

  • Its all just a money spinner and some countries milk it more than others. People should be allowed to travel where they want and providing they are law abiding etc, live where they choose without

Never, unless that person is an outlaw doing wrong things in the country

Let's cut to the chase: Overstaying is an illegal act. If you saw someone pickpocket another person, are you saying you would not tell anyone, even if the thief was hanging around and could be easily caught?

If someone was mugged in front of you and the perpetrator was right there to be arrested, you would not "get involved"?

I'd be looking the other way at the time.

Not my business, take care of your own pockets and safety, it's not my business.

I really don't care if anyone breaks the law, I'm not employed to police anything, anywhere.

A lot of people carry a knife or a gun in Thailand, and it's only 25k to have a guy dressed in black shoot you in the head.

Does your thinking include your home country?

Because it seems lots of people here want to be able to stay in Thailand or anywhere else they want forever without any conditions.

But then the same people writing comments about all those bad foreigners back home. Why do they let them in? Why don't they throw them out? Arrest them and deport them...

Agreed, the hypocrisy on this website is a joke. Wouldn't waste my breath reporting some loser who flaunts the law but they would never elicit sympathy from me either if bum rushed the hell out of here. There's obviously many on this site whose parents performed a miserable task in instilling morality in their offspring, probably too busy getting drunk..

I'd only do it to commiserate with his Thai girlfriend, dry her tears, and then steal her.

That's right - I don't give a cr@p unless it affects me directly.

The old guy that is not disturbing anyone I do not see a problem.  A father or mother that is living day to day supporting their family and not causing anyone harm AGAIN NO PROBLEM.

The person that is out on the street bragging about itand just being a lazy ass happy that he is doing it or that I think has issues definitely.

Weogeordie watch out lol

I've met quite a few people on an overstay. That should never be reported by another foreigner.

It's not really a crime, especially if you do not know the circumstances the person is in.

There are reasons why people overstay, getting seriously sick is one of them.

If a kiddie fiddler gets arrested, that's good news.

Are you saying that if you knew someone living nearby was a danger to kids it would not be your business?

Would you report them as being on overstay or for being a fiddler?

Reporting overstayers is what the poll is about.

Absolutely not under any circumstances never

Reporting overstayers is what the poll is about.

I wouldn't report them for overstay - not my business, but if a rock-spider, well that's a different story and it would be a quiet chat in the local BIB's ear.

No it's not.

Someone who is seriously sick stays in an hospital, and all hospitals have a visa department to take care of this kind of issues.

It's bad enough that Thais report people, surely we don't dob our own whatever country they are from.

I only read page one, I could not be ar$$ed to read all 13, so apologies if this sentiment has been given already.

I have observed the laws of the countries I have lived in for the past 34 years. Never overstayed even one day.

You are a guest here. Staying is not a right, it is a privilege to be respected.

If I find you overstaying, I will report you. If you don't want to be reported, just follow the laws. I have, most do -- it's easy.

If you think overstaying is okay, I have only one question for you: What part of "illegal" do you not understand?

Great, do you pay tax to Thailand on income/ pension?

Don’t need to if you bring it in the following year........one good reason not have such payments sent direct to Thailand. -  not that I have come across anybody who has ever been challenged by the Thai tax authorities.

Would I report an over-stayer?    NFW.

I think they only potentially audit people with tax id's associated with the account.

Interesting how people will not help preserve the law in their adopted home.

I guess you'd let a person drown even though you could throw them a lifeline. "Not my problem," eh?

@Trujillo  There is a concept in Western society called 'Mind your business'. No one mentioned not helping a person in distress or in danger.

Where are you from that you tend to other's business?

It was also mentioned before, pedo's aren't welcome.

Easy to misinterpret sixteen as sixty.

Cold be, but the media STRESSES M60. We have a Somchai Rambo here, and the heroes stopped him.

Unfair comparison.

Most people would try to rescue someone in danger, to the best of their ability.

Thailand is not in any danger from people on overstay, so we do not need to rescue her.

I do not fully subscribe to the "mind your own business" mantra, but I reserve the right to choose for myself whether something is important enough for me to get involved.

No way. Total farang unity!

Wouldn't report anybody in Thailand. For the simple reason it isn't my country and the Thais would know and report it themselves. As has been brought up if you report anybody you will risk being involved with much more menacing criminals who wear badges.

If it's my home country I will report illegals.

If I was an <deleted>, yes. Live and let live, I say. As long as they're supporting themselves, and probably a couple Thais as well, where's the problem?

I'll choose people over governments anytime, even if i dont like the person.  That goes for in Thailand and back home

Nah, I'll stick with minding my own business.

What's it coming to now.

Farang reporting Farang you should be ashamed of yourself if you consider doing this.

What a moronic comparsion...

I like to call immigration and report random <deleted> in my building who I want to hassle with a visit. No idea if they are on an overstay but immigration comes running whenever they are called. Good times. Cheap entertainment.

After you’ve walked through a 5 star hotel lobby holding hands with a ladyboy that you just picked up at a bar, there’s no such thing as being ashamed.

It’s best to get that stuff out early on in your stay. It makes living here easier.

Not my business what visa people have. I also hate when people mingle into my business and try to <deleted> me over so.. why would I.
