The Government Savings Bank (GSB) on Monday (February 10) announced financial assistance for victims of the mass shooting in Nakhon Si Thammarat province over the weekend that resulted in 30 deaths and left 58 injured.

All debts of police and military personnel who died will be written off and their families will receive Bt100,000 as financial aid.

Civilians who died and are the bank’s debtors will have their interest rate adjusted down to 0.01 per cent for the rest of the repayment term.

Critically injured persons who are the bank’s debtors will have their interest rate adjusted down to 0.01 per cent for five years.

The measures will be effective from February 9. For further information contact GSB hotline 1115.

If your dead then you have no debt

You no, of course,

But the debt is not extinguished; it will be up to parents or children to continue to reimburse it.

please explain why a soldier or policeman's life is worth more than "a civilian"

Will the Bank continue this policy for others who die by the gun thoughout Thailand I wonder ??

more likely question:

... what about the victims still alive though Critical, from the incident?

- do they get included in the Statistics, if they take 30+ days to succumb?

(...thinking along the lines of traffic death statistics formulae SOPs)

Because they really don't have much of a choice on ending up in harms way at times, and, by that action try to save civilian lives and possibly lose theirs in the process.

If you think that's not worth thanking them then that's your decision.

I don't think that's what he means. Actually I have the same question too. Why not giving both military and civilian the same treatment !? And Thai wonder why less and less tourist come here.
