webfact
BMW Smart Car drives into town! Immigration nab illegal foreign workers on Samui Picture: Naew Na Surat Thani immigration utilized the high tech gizmos available in the now famous BMW smart cars used to round up foreigners doing illegal things in Thailand. This time the expensive German cars - fitted out with tablet, computer notebook and IT connection capability - succeeded in tracking down the illegal activities of a Ukranian woman and a Myanmar national. Julia, 36, and Ao, 23, were rounded up at a Mae Nam hotel restaurant on the holiday island of Koh Samui, reported Naew Na. They were allowed to work but had failed to register their employer and place and kind of work within the stipulated 15 day limit. They were taken away to face the music. Naew Na quoted a Surat Thani immigration officer as "revealing" that this was all part of IB chief Lt-Gen Sonpong Chingduang's master plan to stop foreigners breaking the law in Thailand. They asked the public to continue to call 1178 to report violations. Thaivisa notes that such stories are now standard fare for Naew Na and are reported in the manner of a template. You rarely hear about local employers being fined. It sounds like they did not understand requirements for their work visa. Hardly something immigration and the BMW corporation should be proud of. Thailand of today is a rather petty little place. 4

They really don't know, in Thailand, what an expensive vehicle is; a BMW is the jacky's car here in Europe, similar to a Toyota Fortuner , the jacky's thai car . An expensive car is that; but it does not exist in Thailand Yet in Dubai, they have some as police cars ; Like what, when we want we can ... overherebc
OK. See if this fits. A restaurant chain employes an expat somewhere and legally gets them a wp. On agreement the employee goes to work for the restaurant chain in a different area. ( All legal so far new wp's don't state area of work?? ) Employer should inform and register the employee with the labour office in that area. Employer doesn't do that, so the employee gets arrested, maybe fined or worse for not doing something they don't have to do or is unaware of.
