Thai Chinese Chamber determined to forge closer ties between two nations

The Thai Chinese Chamber of Commerce is ready to continue forging closer trade and investment ties between Thailand and China, especially in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), new chamber president Narongsak Puttapornmongkol said.

 

The EEC spans the provinces of Rayong, Chon Buri and Chachoengsao.

 

Thailand received orders worth more than Bt900 billion last year from China, accounting for 11.8 per cent of the kingdom’s total exports.

 

Chinese foreign direct investment in Thailand stood at around Bt260 billion last year.

 

The chamber also conveyed its best wishes to Chinese people in general and Chinese businessmen in Thailand, strongly believing they can survive the coronavirus crisis.

For many years China has been in Cambodia and Laos which have become almost new Chinese provinces, whatever the current leaders of these two countries say.
Thailand is a bigger piece but will be digested the same way.
Just back of things, the vast majority of Thai people are from southern China;

It would be funny if it wasn't so serious. China wants the whole of the middle and south eastern sea. This then makes it easier to dispatch aid to Chinese military is disputed places. With closer ties forming between Thailand and China, China will probably do the same in Thailand. That is when, IMO, the problems will begin due to the relationship the US (and others) and Thailand had in previous years.

Maybe Thailand will become known as South China...

 

China announced publicly its plans to remove western influence in this area of the world several years ago.  They are patiently working their plan.  Sometimes I wonder if the trips to China by Thai officials and the attitude at most Thai Immigration offices are connected.  

 

Slowly tightening the screws to make living in SE Asia by westerners uncomfortable...

I wonder what the new Thai flag will look like. Or will it just come down while the Chinese flag goes up.

Lots of talk as per usual.  If you want Chinese customer, go to China.   Don't wait for them to come to you.  The Thai eatery Greyhound has restaurants in China, Hong Kong and Saigon.  That says more than a bunch of government mouth pieces looking for a place at the trough. 

 

Secret Recipe is from Malaysia.   I thought it was Thai.   

 

There is nothing exciting about the EEC.  It just reeks of an Army industrial park.  

 

Would rather hear about cross border successes from real people, not a bunch of junta shills cozying up to the Chinese Government.

I think you're definitely correct. Far too many coincidences. 

I've not looked at the subject extensively but the only nations that seem to have shown any backbone in dealing with China is Vietnam and the Philippines given their continued dispute over the South China Sea.

So it was only in 2019Q4 that China surpassed Japan that made China #1 for FDI in Thailand for 2019? Feels like an accounting manipulation, ie., accelerating contract awards to China capitalized projects.

Vietnam has been at war for more than two thousand years with China, which is regularly beaten and retreated pitifully on its borders.
But for the past ten years China has found a new Trojan horse, to economically invade Vietnam as it has already done with Laos and Cambodia in Asia and with almost all the countries of Africa; and as it is doing with Thailand.

Vietnam will not resist much longer.
As for the Philippines, when the Americans abandon this country, it will fall like a ripe fruit in the arms of China.

It should be China is Determined to take over Thailand in the near future
