Korn Chatikavanij

Former finance minister and Democrat Party ex-MP Korn Chatikavanij launched the “Kla (Bold) Party” on Valentine’s day.

Korn told NationTV 22 that he wanted to gather successful and talented people who had a vision and the will to make changes for the country.

He said his party was going to focus on topics that mostly affected Thais’ quality of life, including technology development and agriculture product promotion to premium goods, which would need specialists in each field.

“It’s my and (former MP) Attawit Suwanpakdee's intention to form a new party even though the chance is so small nowadays,” Korn said.

Planning ahead for dissolution of FFP and disenchanted Democrat Party members?

Could be true, but I hope he doesn't allow old style politicians from any party to join his new party.

The Bold Party :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

Priceless!

To boldly go where no other corrupt politician in this country has gone before.

Not that long ago he categorically denied he was going to launch a new party.

There used to be some washing powder called Bold - same same but different

I think he's suffering from delusions of grandeur. There was nothing bold about his support for Prayuth to be PM. his fellow co-founder of Kla was one of the leaders of Suthep's shutdown Bangkok group which led to the coup, right-wing through and through.

Korn himself, failed miserably in the contest for leadership of the Democrats. He has no support base.

Maybe he has an agreement to pick up some FFP MPs if they are dissolved next week.

Kla - that name belongs to FFP, prepared to take on the establishment.

Actually, I am pretty sure that Korn was not in the majority position (within the Democrat Party) that supported going into a coalition with the PPRP.  He did say he could not go into a coalition with the Phue Thai (though I don't think he made a statement of the same in regards to the FFP).  I have a vague recollection he was more aligned with Abhisit though he did not resign from the Democrat Party when the majority decided to enter into a coalition.   It was a huge mistake that the Democrat Party made in doing that as it permanently has ensured that they will no longer be a tier 1 party but a smaller rump party.  I actually do hope he is reasonably successful in starting a party that will retain more of it's independence.  Thailand needs more parties that separate themselves from the two major parties that have made such a mess of things (on all sides of the spectrum).

I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

I suspect you don’t know him or even know much about him , but, fair enough, you are entitled to your opinion.

FWIW, I have a feeling (hope), that this move , on his part, maybe seen, in the future, as the beginnings of something significant for Thailand.

I strongly suspect the current government , for all sorts of reasons, both respect and fear this guy.

An alliance between him and FFP , for example, would be pretty formidable.

At least he should know to check, and double check, that anything his party does is 100% legal so that it does not become the next target if the FFP is dissolved. He is not a beginner in the dirty game of Thai politics.
