rooster59 Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Udon Thani: Cat burglar says he was caught because he didn't say his prayers! Caption: He forgot to say his prayers Image: Sanook A serial cat burglar in the north east of Thailand said he was only caught because he didn't say his usual prayers. Anurak, 32, explained that he used to be a monk and had studied Buddhist teachings extensively. He noticed that when he incanted prayers he was always protected and free from trouble. So every time he went out on a job pinching things from clinics, pharmacies and convenience stores he would make sure he said his prayers. He did this religiously.... But the last time he stole from a pharmacy in downtown Udon Thani he forgot. He was found with a whole bunch of incriminating evidence from his nighttime capers - pliers, screwdrivers were his tools. Prepaid cards, curling tongs, condoms and KY jelly were among his loot. He was nabbed in Soi Charoen Suk and charged with theft during the hours of darkness. He admitted to around a dozen thefts in Udon, Nong Khai and Nong Bua Lamphu. He said he used to deliver seafood in Bangkok but then fell for the charms of an Udon woman and moved there but couldn't find a job. So he decided to borrow a relative's Tiger pick-up and become a cat burglar. He knew he would be safe because of his incantations - until that fateful slip-up. He said he needed money for his one year old daughter. Milk formula was among the stolen items. Could it be enchanted? I'm speechless. 1

cyril sneer Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 I expect he'll pay his 500 baht and join the orange mafia as opposed to a jail sentence

Not different to hundred of millions of others around the world that pray everyday and continue to commit crimes assured that they're covered because they said their prayers... 2

That should 'ease him' into prison life. 1 hour ago, PatOngo said: 'Refrain from taking what is not given' He stole from convenience stores - that's self service, it's not given. 'Refrain from the misuse of the senses or sexual misconduct.' The stolen condoms and KY jelly will sort that one out. 1

The invisibility cloak reminds me of the film Erik The Viking (1989).
