Good morning

I contacted yesterday Samitivej to get info about the existence in their hospital in Bangkok of an aritmia specialized center..

Surprisingly I receive this morning an answer from.... Bangkok Hospital in Bangkok refering to my enquiry

Could somebody confirm those 2 hospitals are not linked ?? as I don t want to go to Bangkok hospital

Then I would not know how my enquiry may have reached them.. (I am 100 per cent sure having contacted Samitivej and not BH)

Have a nice day

It is owned by Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS),  And they also own Bangkok Hospital and many others.  Bangkok Hospital has a dedicated heart hospital.

While they (and several other hospitals) are owned by the same parent company I have never known an email sent to one to result in an answer by another. Check the exact email address you sent the initial inquiry to.

I had no idea what you meant by "aritmia" and likely neither would any Thai hospital. After a while I deduced you might mean "arrhythmia". In which case you do not need a specialized center for arrhythmias,  just an appropriate cardiologist. All hospitals have cardiology centers and cardiologists.

I could advise better if I knew what type of arrhythmia.

True but Bangkok Hospital does have a dedicated arrhythmia center so perhaps they did a Google and got arrhythmia and looked for clinics only?

I don't think Samitivej would have done that.

I suspect e mailed to a BDMS address, not to Samitivej specifically.

Or not email but online and easy to do if both pages open - and would not have any record in normal email system.

Hello Sheryl and thanks for answer (thanks also for other person who answered)

My first mail was sent to Samitivej hospital (SSH international) and they told me they had one doctor specialised in arrhythmia coming to Chonburi Hospital within a few days...

I told them I wanted to know wether in Bangkok they had in Samitivej an arrhythmia center and the answer came.. from Bangkok Hospital As you might see here below.. they just forwarded my mail to Bangkok hospital which answered me..

From: SSH International <[email protected]>
Sent: Tuesday, February
To: Bangkokhospital of BHQ <[email protected]>
Subject: Fw: Arrhythmia center

Getting this mail I asked them how the answer was asking me to send my details to get an appointment in Bangkok Hospital as I contacted Samitiej and here is the answer I got..

Samitivej Hospital is our sister hospital of Bangkok Hospital Group

Our Bangkok Heart Hospital address

BANGKOK HOSPITAL

2 Soi Soonvijai 7, New Petchburi Rd., Bangkok 10310 Thailand
Tel. +662-310-3000 (24 hours)  1719 (local calls only)

I did not answer any more as I don t want to go to Bangkok Hospital (even if I left only BPH) as my reason to leave BPH was that the cardiologist I was having for nearly 3 years and who followed the medication of my cardiologist abroad had suddenly decided to change my medication and cancel my ritmonorm medicine which helps avoiding arrythmia by another medicine which would only slow down the hear beatings but would not have effect on the arrhythmia .. This was confirmed by a specialist in Sririraj Bangkok who told me he would not recommend a catheter ablation at least if things were regulated with medicine and he maintained the ritmonorm and other medicines

Unfortunately I lately (last 6 months) had 3 cardioversions due to very long arrhythmia (electric as they can t put me the drip medicine due to iodine allergy) and this even after increasing the ritmonorm..

I would then have liked to consult a real arrhythmia specialist in Samitivej Bangkok if any to ask him if, as arrhythmia seems to increase, he would now recommend surgery.. The reason why I ask for Samitivej and don t go back to Sririraj even if I was very pleased with the assistant professor I saw is that my insurance covers Bangkok Hospital and Samitivej but not Sririraj.. AND... you know why I want to avoid Bangkok Hospital..

I have an atrial flutter mainly but also some secondary problems

Thank you Sheryl

Have a nice day

Bangkok Hospital in Bangkok is not BPH so if your insurance covers any Bangkok Hospital would try in Bangkok - Not cheap (had insurance) but considered my treatment there to be very good (although primary surgeon moved to Bumrungrad) - had cardio doctor in Arrhythmia center acting as my GP and believe he did a good job.

Thanks again for reply.. I will check if Bangkok hospital is in the list..  I deduct from your mail there is an arrhytmia center there.. Do you have a reco ? Is there a professor or assistant professor in this center ?

I just enquire for the moment as I think my cardiologist is good but the fact I needed 3 cardioversions recently worries me.. and above all I want to have my file in an hospital where my insurance covers (Around Pattaya they cover only BPH and for above reasons I don t go there... in case I have a more serious issue)

Have a nice evening

Yes they have a dedicated center on second floor of heart hospital (at connecting overpass to main hospital) but website very unfriendly today as limited to February appointments so can not call up doctors as should be able and it has been several years since I used that hospital and do not recall name.

Found doctor I used but I did not have your condition - he works full time from that center and appeared to be very busy and easy to talk with.  Not sure if any have professor status in that clinic but am sure if you email they will provide a list of doctors.

Your issue at BPH has nothing at all to do with the hospital let alone with all its affiliates. it was  a problem with what one specific doctor did.

The following  is a top arrythmia specialist in Thailand, he can be seen at either Bumrungrad or Bangkok Hospital (Bangkok branch) and it does not matter which in terms of care:

Thanks a lot to both of you.. My insurance covers for Bgk Hospital headquarters.. so, will go there if I have in the coming weeks to undergo another cardioversion

The problem I have is not with a specific cardiologist in BPH...

In fact I had to undergo an eye surgery in BPH in emergency last august.. so I saw another cardiologist in BPH (the one on duty who could approve the anesthesia).. First thing he told me was "you have to stop ritmonorm and go for Herbesser". Exactly same comment as the other one in same hospital 2 years before..

I told him I had choosen another cardiologist in another hospital and this cardiologist as my cardiologist in France forbid to change ritmonorm for herbesser and so had said an assistant professor specialised in arrhythmia in Sririraj Bangkok. He still insisted, saying if I had to go to BPH for treatment he would stop ritmonorm.. reason why I will never go there in case of heart issue and I prefer to prepare for the worse, already finding an hospital in BGK where I could be transfered

Have a nice week end..

I had my stent done at BNH by the Cardiometabolic Clinic, dr wasi and Dr Jiranut. Saved my life and the Docs at Duke University Medical (one of the finest medical  places in the world) said they did a great job. I heartily reccomend that clinic to anyone.
