Suvarnabhumi Airport immigration police today (March 3) found that two out of seven Thai labourers returning from South Korea were suspected of being infected with the Covid-19 coronavirus as they have a fever. The two have been sent to hospital for monitoring and the others have been ordered detained at their residences for 14 days.

Immigration police deputy spokesman Colonel Cherngron Rimpadee said its offices nationwide held a meeting via video conference yesterday to specify precautionary measures for all Thai labourers sent back from South Korea. Fifty of them were to arrive via Suvarnabhumi Airport on a daily basis and 20 through Don Mueang International Airport.

“We have contacted airlines to separate these groups and collect their passports. They will be screened with thermoscan infrared cameras. Those found to have fever will be transferred to a government hospital,” he added.

How reassuring that will be for their fellow travellers :shock1:

The thermal screening, of course, does nothing to detect CV positive people who have yet to start showing symptoms, meaning they're going to be letting in lots of potentially CV infected Thais into general society and most, more than likely, won't actually abide by their supposed 14-day quarantine period.

so now people are scared in not having a HEALTHY slight fever or be forced in quarantine

the inflammatory cues delivered by the thermal element of fever stimulate innate and adaptive immune responses. We further highlight the unexpected multiplicity of roles of the pyrogenic cytokine interleukin-6 (IL-6), both during fever induction as well as during the mobilization of lymphocytes to the lymphoid organs that are the staging ground for immune defence.

I think that in Thailand the majority of cases of coronavirus do not go beyond the stage of suspicion, the others are put under the carpet????

It's about to go viral... excuse the pun!

With a few thousand returning from S.Korea some infected, others possible carriers but showing no symptoms on entry are going to mix with the general public, asking them to self quarantine is like asking a Soi dog not to bark!

Thousands of Thais to return from S.Korea. 2 in 7 possibly infected. Let's not forget the SOURCE. That wet animal market in Wuhan. Bats to pangolins to humans. Still won't learn from their poor habits in the future. Markets will continue as usual for profit.

Let's assume they did. That would be the better part of 30,000 people. That would put Thailand as number 1 outside of China for the virus. That wold mean a further decline in tourism figures. So, if 30,000 did have it, expect a rise in the published Thai Covid figures of maybe 3

I knew someone would miss this. It was two people among just seven that arrived in a group, not two out of every seven among 150,000 or whatever the number is. Put the calculator away.

The thing to me is that for Thais especially, the 14 day self quarantine at home, is that if there are 5 other people in their home, ALL of them will become possible targets for the virus. At least 1 or 2 will leave the house every day for work, shopping etc and could in turn infect dozens of other people.

The possible carrier also has too report somewhere every day. How will they get there? Skytrain, Subway, bus, taxi etc, and in each case more and more people are open to the virus.

I can tell you how it's done in China if you like? Potential victim has their own room and stays at least one metre away from everyone else. They have their own knife, fork, spoon, cup, plate, bowl which no-one else ever touches. They and the other householders never remove masks and they report by phone to a standard questionnaire daily, if there's any changes they get a visit from a heath team all suited up. They get irregular visits anyway to make sure you aren't playing truant.

I'm on quarantine at the moment and it's no big deal. Having said that it would be difficult for the Thais I know as they are very outgoing people,

Make that 7 out of 7 if they all travelled together.

this virus could not of chosen a better continent to spread.

incompetent, ignorant, unhygienic, lazy, over populated areas, fear, untrustworthy governments the list goes on.this virus is smarter than we think.
