According to the I.O the Kor Ror 22 is now only valid for 6 months.

We'd got a new one before when we went in to our local Amphur, we took along the old one and the certificate they issued before but the lady said we could have gone into any office.  Cost us 10 baht.

So Chang Wattana want a new one for every annual extension.

They also need to see the Bank pass book's last page updated on the day you take in your passport for the extension stamp showing the minimum 400,000 is still there. A photo copy (signed by you) is also required at that time.

They give out 3 forms to be filled in and signed by you and your wife.  One you sign simply says if you get refused extension of stay you'll get booted out and if you don't go there are all sorts of sanctions so you just sign it - what else can you do?

Another is a stupid bit of unnecessary paperwork printed in both English and Thai that says you have applied for an extension of stay and you have to state why you apply - to be with the spouse you love would be the acceptable answer, not because your favourite pub is at the end of the soi. It goes on to say that if circumstances materially change after it is granted they'll cancel it - and you sign it to acknowledge this in both the place indicated under the Thai writing and the English translation below.

The final one is for the wife to fill in, is a bit more involved as she has to fill in who you are, where you are living, province address etc and her phone number, also she fills in your age, nationality, when you first arrived in the Kingdom, and when  your temporary stay permission is valid to ............date. She then states you are still living together at such & such address, intend to continue to do so, and asks for the IO to grant this as she guarantees the person. All bovine ordure as if she did not want you there she wouldn't have gone with you in the first place.

I have taken a spare set of the 3 forms because otherwise you got to fill them in on your lap so our clever idea is to scan them, edit them with Word text-boxes and fill them in as templates for future use, requiring only dates to be inserted. We do this with all their forms, TM30, TM7 & 47 etc. We are fortunate in having a scanner/printer and computer.

I included 2 - A4 plain paper prints of photos (2 A5 per page), one taken outside the house showing soi and house number plaque on the wall, one in the garden, one in the lounge surrounded by dogs (we got 4) and one sitting on the bed with my arm around her all wearing the same clothes.

No problem at all.

At CW the IO asked us to sit for a pair photo, so we cuddled up and kissed - the IO laughed and said "no no, just together" so we posed cheek to cheek and she laughed when I said "Oh, I was enjoying that" which broke the ice. Later her supervisor took another pic of just me and also finger and thumb-prints of both hands for the biometric record, something they had not done on the 3 previous extensions, and she checked all the rain-forest of forms and pictures and photo-copies of everything.

My last extension was for retirement and had to fill-in all three forms, even the one intended for spouse. I just filled in my name and signed two places. I never worry about common sense, just do what they want.
