Ministry updates list of high-risk destinations

Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on Tuesday (March 3) approved the latest list of countries and territories at high risk of the Covid-19 infection: Japan, Germany, South Korea, China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Taiwan, France, Singapore, Italy, and Iran.

Veteran economist Virabongsa Ramangkura takes the government and central bank to task for their ignorance in managing the economy and the baht exchange rate, resulting in a prolonged economic slow down. 

 

The current economic decline could drag on for the next five years, warned former finance minister and veteran economist Virabongsa Ramangkura who sharply criticised the government's handling of the economy and the Bank of Thailand's failure to rein in the strong baht.

New anti-virus measures for foreign visitors and Thais returning from high risk areas

Thailand’s Public Health Ministry, via a ministerial announcement, has designated nine countries and two territories as high risk areas for COVID-19, and visitors to Thailand from these areas will be subject to 14-day home quarantine and will have to adhere to health related follow-up measures.

Wuhan style screening to be imposed on Thais returning from South Korea

Thai citizens returning from South Korea, including those working there illegally, will have to undergo stringent screening measures on arrival in Thailand, similar to those imposed on visitors from the Chinese city of Wuhan during the initial stages of the COVID-10 outbreak in China.

PHUKET: A German tourist arriving from Singapore with an elevated body temperature and a runny nose was put into isolation late last week after landing in Phuket on Thursday and has now been discharged from hospital care after he tested negative for the COVID-19 coronavirus, the Phuket health Chief announced today (Mar 3).
