The Johns Hopkins School of Public Health conducted a three-year study of the preparedness of 195 countries for dealing with health crises including epidemics and pandemics.  The study was concluded before the onset of COVID-19.  The gist of the report is that no countries are fully prepared to deal with such a health crisis, but they nevertheless ranked countries for preparedness.  The US was #1 with an index score of 83.5 and Thailand was #6 with an index score of 73.2. Not bad for a middle-income country.

I would say having looked at the John Hopkins report that Thailand's performance is quite remarkably good.Thank you for bringing this report to the forum's attention.
