April 7, 200718 yr Hi everyone, A big thanks for all the advice received. I think it definitely helped my Thai girlfriend get an Irish holiday visa. However, she was unemployed at the time of applying, and she got news of the visa AND a new job at the same time, so can't use the visa at the moment. Is there a time limit within which she must use it, and if so, will she be now able to easily get another visa later on in the year? Thanks! mountainman
April 7, 200718 yr Never seen an Irish visa but every other visa I have seen has an expiry date on the visa. ('A must be used by' date). I would think that if she applies again and provides the same evidence she did to get this one then she should be successful again. Take nothing for granted, give them the same again.
April 8, 200718 yr Be aware that if she doesnt use the visa she may be asked a lot of questions next time she goes abroad... my gf didnt use a visa to Switzerland, and when we went to singapore for a short holiday they grilled her about it,then only gave her a 3 day visa(instead of 10),which made it a REALLY short holiday
April 8, 200718 yr Irish holiday visa. so can't use the visa at the moment. Is there a time limit within which she must use it, and if so, will she be now able to easily get another visa later on in the year? I presume MM that this is a Visit Visa? Look at the 7th row down it will state 'Remarks' this will state the visa you have received. Then look at the second row, it will state 'From' and to the far right 'Until'. This is the validity of your visa. If you got it this time and the circumstances have changed for the better then I would suggest that you will have little problem next time, just state on the application the reasons for non-use with proof of said reasons. I presume you are an Irish National, so I also presume they waived the fee for the Visa, so it didn't cost you anything anyway. Good Luck Moss
