REUTERS/Stringer/File Photo BEIJING (Reuters) - Mainland China outside Hubei reported no new locally transmitted cases of coronavirus on Sunday for the second straight day, while 36 were reported in Wuhan, officials said Monday. China had 40 new confirmed cases of coronavirus infections on Sunday, the National Health Commission said on Monday, down from 44 cases a day earlier, and lowest number since the health authority started publishing nationwide data on Jan. 20. Of the new cases on Sunday, 36 were new infections in Wuhan, the provincial capital of Hubei, while the remaining four in Gansu province were imported from Iran. The total number of imported cases hit 67, including the four Gansu cases. The new cases on Sunday bring the total accumulated number of confirmed cases in mainland China to 80,735. The death toll from the outbreak in mainland China reached 3,119 as of the end of Sunday, up 22 from the previous day. Hubei, the epicentre of the outbreak, reported 21 new deaths. In Wuhan, 18 people died. ChouDoufu Posted March 9, 2020 Share Posted March 9, 2020 is possible. no new cases here in hainan in over two weeks. factories and schools will be opening soon, we'll see what happens then. as for now, the quarantines have been effective. shutting down factories, stopping public transport, banning large assemblies, limiting access to public facilities. one person per household every other day (once a week in wuhan i think) allowed out of housing complexes for supplies. temperature checks everywhere, no entry without a mask. cellphone app with color-code QR-scan to track health status, updated every 72 hours, required for access to transport stations and malls and supermarkets. Guitar God Posted March 9, 2020 Share Posted March 9, 2020 I spoke with two people living in Wuhan city today and both said the new cases were declining and in the past day there were as many new cases in Wuhan city as there were in the rest of China, 40. They could have been lied to but why would Chinese nationals be told that there were more new cases than the media ? I’d trust their info. At least there’s agreement that the situation is improving.
