Five airlines are providing special privileges for passengers to load 10-20 kilogrammes of fruit on planes free of charge under a public-private sector agreement to fight Covid-19.

The fruits are rambutan, mangosteen, longan, tangerine, lychee and langsat.

Thai Air Asia, Lion Air, Thai Smile and Bangkok Airways will allow passengers to load up to 20kg of the fruits for free. Nok Air will allow 10kg of freeloading on Nok Air Lite while Nok Max and Nok X-tra passengers will be allowed up to 20kg.

Department of Airports director Tawee Gasisam-ang said 28 airports will provide boxes and packaging before the fruits are loaded on planes. Passengers can ask for the boxes verified by the Department of Internal Trade (DIT) at airport reception counters. Airports will even provide an area for seasonal fruit sales.

This year, the DIT will participate in campaign activities to do with seasonal fruit, including distribution promotion, and connect both Thai and foreign tourists with sources selling the fruit.

Why stop with fruit? Wht not rice? Eggs? A few chickens, especially those fighting cocks? Or even a buffalo?

Oh no!!! Don't you know the latest, yet unpublished research results? For the nasty Co19-virus the mentioned fruits are the same as garlic for vampires! You just throw it when on tries to approach you...????????????

Is this instead of the 2000 Baht handout the government promised?

Who supplies the fruit?

Will they be paid for the fruit?

Who actually packs the fruit?

What total weight limit?

Check-in cargo or cabin luggage?

At what airports?

Is the passenger the final recipient of the fruit?

If one was to arrive in Auckland, NZ, Sydney, Aus., or San Diego, Cal., with a box of Thai fruit do you think you would be allowed to leave the airport with it? Just curious.

NZ has very strict bio security on food products. I had 2 weetbix ( my breakfast) in plastic wrap confiscated.
