Third Tourist Visa In A Row

Featured Replies

Just came back from Penang

and they gave me the third

single entry tourist visa

I asked them ''next time also non problemos''

I mean over 3 months again

asked twice

they say nothing will change youre welcome that time

there is only one serious advice

go there in person ,don't use a agent to do the pasport job

in a way it's illegal to do that

and I saw some people having big time problems with it

and it's also been mentioned earlier on this forum

It is absolutely not illegal to have a travel service obtain a tourist visa if you are in Penang at the time. The only time it would be wrong is if you used a service to take your passport across a border.

Mr lopburi3 do you know the name of the aids temple just outside your city please

Thanks for the info mate, I'll be headinghte same way soon for also my 3rd TR visa.

odile

That's good to know. I have a new passport with a 60 day TV, but I did not extend, just went across the broder for a 30 day nvoa. I'll do the nvoa one more time and then hit Penang.

BR

a 30 day nvoa

Nvoa? I take it this is your very personal abbreviation for what is commonly know as a visa-exempt entry or an entry without visa, for which I have so far seen no abbreviation being used on ThaiVisa and I think it is better this way. There is enough confusion about visas already without the introduction of new unintelligible or ambiguous abbreviations. Wouldn’t you agree?

o.k it's not illegal

but you give your verry worthwile possesion to someone else

and sometimes it goes wrong most of the time it's not a problem

but I met a guy outside the consulate waiting for his agent already for

two days it could be a miss communication any way he tried to phone

the agent but there was no reaction aside from this

I don't want to scare people off

but this story

combined with the storys on this forum in the past

let's me think double time about this subject

by the way two years ago I used an agent and everything went well

in Penang

because of the new visa system since 1 oct I am a little bit more carefull

but thanks Lopburi 3 you are right

it's not illegal

a 30 day nvoa

NO, I would not agree. There is a lot of confusion when saying voa because you don't get a "visa" on arrival. Nvoa simply means No Visa on Arrival. 30 day stamp or 15 or 7, but you don't have a visa on arrival. It's a permit to stay - only.

Respectfully,

BronzeRider

There is a lot of confusion when saying voa because you don't get a "visa" on arrival.

If there is confusion, it comes from people saying VOA when they do not mean VOA. There is an official and clearly-defined Visa On Arrival. See here.

Nvoa is unintelligible because nobody before you has ever used it and therefore nobody could possibly know what meaning it is supposed to have.

Nvoa, as you have defined it just now, is highly ambiguous because it can mean many different things, not just your definition of “No Visa on Arrival”. You used nvoa to mean visa-exempt entry, but when used like this, in addition to “no visa on arrival” it also means

– no tourist visa

– no non-immigrant visa

– no immigrant visa

– no re-entry permit

So what’s wrong with saying “visa-exempt entry” or “entry without visa” when this is what you mean? I am convinced that you did not join ThaiVisa with the intention of sowing confusion about visas. So please, I beg of you, don’t start it now.

Good for you, maybe it the Songkran holiday happiness, oh well what ever enjoy. Maybe I will go to Penang next time.

How does the Penang situation compare to Vientenne, Laos?

Years ago, I was able to get a double entry (3+3 months) in Vientenne, tho the most recent time I had to show an original letter from my Thai bank showing a balance of over Bt.20,000 in order to get the double entry.

Of course, everything's probably changed since then. even so, is it just a little bit crazy, or very crazy there now? Specs would be appreciated. thanks.

I got a tourist visa in Penang in November. No problems at all. I too had about 25+ visa exemption stamps in my passport. I used an agent, so can't comment on the situation at the consulate.

I got a tourist visa in Vientienne last month. Again, no problems at all. I arrived at around 8:25, and was out by 9:00am. Picked it up the next day after waiting in line for about 3 minutes.

Dress well, arrive early, you'll be fine wherever you go.

The best expierienced I had about Agents is Swisshotel Penang They also

orginaze trips back to Thailand

for example

they pick you up around 4 o'clock thai time at your hotel in the morning

then arround 7 Sadao then some where before 9.30 you arrive

in Hat yai then before 10 'clock you leave for Surathani [change driver, minnivan in Hat jai]

then estimated arrival 14.00 15.00 in Surathani then another bus to Donsak at 16.00

then taking the boat to Koh pha nagn at 1700 hour

your arrival time with the boat on Koh Pha Nagn

is arround 20.00
