Popular Post webfact
DTAC SIM cards to help track foreigners visiting from Covid-19 high-risk countries By THE NATION Total Access Communication (DTAC) is offering "Happy Tourist" SIM cards that will help track foreigners arriving from Covid-19 high-risk countries at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Phuket International Airport, Chiang Mai International Airport and Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai International Airport from Friday (March 13). Lih Ren How, chief marketing officer, said, "DTAC is ready to support government policy in keeping track of anyone who travels from high-risk countries to Thailand by using the mobile phone network. "We collaborate with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission to monitor everyone travelling from foreign countries, both Thais and foreigners. Everybody will receive Covid-19 screening from officials from the Ministry of Public Health and the Immigration Bureau. This procedure is to ensure public awareness, whether it be travellers coming to Thailand or Thai people, about Covid-19 tracking and precaution." DTAC has set up a booth with staff who will offer Happy Tourist SIM cards to foreigners visiting Thailand at a screening checkpoint of the Department of Disease Control. The SIM cards are available for By49 baht and can be used for 14 days. Foreign travellers who use roaming service in Thailand can download the AOT Airport application from Airports of Thailand Pcl. The application will allow travellers to fill out their information. This will help the government to contact and keep track of the travellers as the Covid-19 outbreak evolves. Foreign travellers who have no plans to use roaming service are required to buy SIM cards at the checkpoint. The state agencies have jointly launched a measure to require all foreign tourists arriving at all international airports in Thailand to download an AOT Airports application onto their mobile phones as a measure to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the country. The measures took effect from March 12. The requirement also applies to Thai returnees from high-risk countries. Once the app is downloaded, they will have to fill in the required information -- name, surname, passport ID, mobile phone number, e-mail address and present them to the immigration officials on duty . The information will be stored for 14 days after arrival. In the case of a virus-infected person, the information given will enable related state agencies to follow protocols. The state agencies will also be able to trace and inform passengers on the same flight as the infected individual. Popular Post Metropolitian
I would if I returned back from abroad never choose to use roaming services. Neither woud I accept to buy the DTAc sim which as the article says works for 14 days (of course not..) It is AIS or True and I would buy this at theirtrue atoees and not at any booth at the airport. Plus these dtac and government wont push me to use the app whic is useless for me and a lots others. Me, having an Lumia phone and I have read it wont work on iOs older then 11.. (cant confirm..) They can come up with the paper and done with it. Reach me in case another passenger in the airplane tested positive simply by email which I will write down on that paper. They live paperwork aint? Then they have a lot more work to do as 14 days has passed (remember the 'tested positive and then track you') after I left the plane and they possibily try contact me. In that time I , or you, could have infected others. Just close the borders and extend all 'grant to stay' (any visa and any extension) currently in Thailand free of charge as long as the trouble is going on. Didn't they get the message? Wait for this crisis to end and Vietnam Airlines taking over from THAI's dominance and there will be few people left coming to Thailand, other than a few backpackers who will use it mainly as a transit point, since Thailand's geographical position makes it almost necessary to pass through, if you're wanting to travel between say Myanmar and Laos/Cambodia. Once the Lao-Burmese border checkpoint opens to travelers, this may change though.

And unlogical and horseeyesflaps. It is riddiculoua in this state of emergency for example the italians who already has extended their tourist visa need to get a letter from their embassy that their country is closed. They should get a pardon free at cost to have their tourist visa extended again as long as the virus is going on.

Once the Lao-Burmese border checkpoint opens to travelers, this may change though. maybe because of this: Quote “You are at risk of being put into quarantine or instructed to self-isolate for 14 days even after you have arrived in Vietnam if you either develop flu-like symptoms, or it is suspected you have been in contact with some who has tested for coronavirus. There are also increased restrictions on British nationals wishing to visit Vietnam. “From 12 March, Vietnam has suspended its visa waiver programme for British nationals. There are reports that e-visas have also been suspended and the Vietnamese embassy in London will not be processing visa applications until further notice. “The Vietnamese embassy in London say that it is possible to get a visa, but there is uncertainty around the replacement process and timeline for such applications.” The statement added that British citizens are “strongly advised” to familiarise themselves with these risks before travelling. So far, 10 British citizens are among those who have tested positive for the virus. src: guardian virus live page

bobbymack
"High risk countries" the Government says. Thailand is itself a high-risk country as far as the rest of the world is concerned. This is why tourist numbers are down massively. Are they too stupid to know this? I suspect that there are more infected people in Thailand than they are prepared to admit or just have not tested enough people.
