I was planning on going.  I don't mind the uncertainty from a health point of view.  I am not concerned about getting ill.  now all the travel restrictions, forms, smart phone (I don't have a smart phone) are valid concerns and I probably will not travel.  I was planning about 90 days (60 day SETV with a 30 day extension) starting around April 20 after what was going to be Songkran.  Guess I will stay on this contract job and just dosh up for when things do calm down

Knowing how the game works I just believe in 1st hand infos. A friend of mine arrived today at BKK airport. No checks at all, no app download etc. While this new measure wasn`t there in the morning, I thought everyone had to follow stricter rules since a few days. His fellow passengers from FRA also had no screenings at all.

Secondly, at no time has Dr Tedros lambasted the CCP over their coverup and acting too late, not once. Why? Because he's complicit in its spread, that why.

The WHO completely blew it on this.

If you are being thermal scanned you might not necessarily know it.

Held accountable by who and for what end?  There are those that have taken the opportunity to use it to justify their own racism -- not even based on risk -- just because they are of the same race.  Some farang are now finding them on the same end of the racism and justifiably upset about it...

 

Viruses don't discriminate, mutations can happen anywhere.  The 'Spanish Flu' likely originated out of America ... 

 

It has a name now for both the disease and the virus, that should always be used and people should not be trying to use the virus for their own agenda other than the agenda of holding governments account for mistakes and mismanagement (which for democratic countries can be a factor in elections; or for all - a learning experience).  So many countries have failed this preparedness test.

By other governments sure as of now the focus is on finding a vaccine however once that is achieved likely lots of research will go into to backtrack the exact cause of this disaster and or any responsible persons involved at the start.

We are all responsible.

 

Our encroachment on wilderness, our warming of the climate and melting permafrost releasing ancient pathogens into the wild - generally speaking - we are all responsible.  

 

The Europeans were an agrarian society, the natives of North America were not.  Farming society (which we are) live in closer proximity to animals and allow transmission of pathogens that can be transmitted from animal to human - those virus then become part of our environment and we eventually build up immunity.  8% of our DNA comes from viruses that likely plagued us but are now part of us (some of it is now a necessity to our biology).   Those Europeans then visited North America and between the point of first contact and the later arrival of settlers -- the population of natives on the continent were absolutely decimated.

 

Virus mutation (like our own gene mutation) is part of life on this planet.  We should stop looking for someone to blame.

This "certificate" is as... smart as the "mandatory form" designed by the french governement, for the people who want to leave their home during quarantine.

 

If they don't sign this form, and take it with them when they go outside to walk the dog... the police can impose a fee... of 38 euros.

 

So a "medical certificate" to visit Thailand ? ... i say bring it on !

If a certificate was needed, it's unlikely it's going to happen from the UK, they will be to busy for such stuff in the NHS, and going to the Doctors, just before a flight, increasing your chances of catching it, by coming out of the advised self isolation, get the cert. and catch the virus with no symptoms apparent until in Thailand??? Not helpful.

 

Dad is 86  and has to make his decision to come or not by the 24th March....wish things were clearer.

He already has a phone for someone to install an app on and a DTAC Sim, but unlikely he could load the app without help at the airport.

As I was on a line call yesterday the house phone rang and an acquaintance (previous tourist to Thailand last year) informed that an friend of his in THailand had just told him someone had just been confirmed positive for Covid in that seaside town area! (a tourist, from within Thailand they thought)
