yes, I've read that opinion (Trump pushes viewpoint that also). Sorry, just don't subscribe to it. But whatever you decide in how you carry on during this I wish you and your family to be safe and healthy..

Yup, they'll be shooting them in the streets... No way are they going to get the entire Thai population to stay inside !!!

Yes indeed a practice run and not my idea of a "fun run" either.I think to take some positives from this debacle is the best I can do and to try and look on the bright side of life because if I'm to die a free man I would rather do it with a smile in my dial. Most of us choose to be slaves to the economy for some strange reason,I know I did for many years, well a slave to my wife's economy at least. As for humanity as a whole a dented economy might be a small price to pay by us slaves to survive to continue our servile existence.

I read a good one earlier...

"why do you blow the horn?"

"to keep the Tigers away"

"But there are no Tigers here"

"There you go"

It's a practice to see how much the little people can be squeezed !!

I've already posted this in another thread, but 155,000 people die every single day.  Respiratory illnesses were the 3rd leading cause of death in 2015 when this study was published, before there was a special name for it: https://www.reference.com/world-view/many-people-die-day-world-b5a2258c374cba57

We're at 21k after 3 months, the vast majority being people who have already outlived the average life expectancy.

I really wish in addition to the covid-19 death tracking, we had some other normal virus death tracking alongside it to put things into perspective.

They're going to need a lot of army with "lots of guns" to force people to stop trying to survive working on their farms around here.I think the collective middle digit is about the only cooperation they'll get around these parts.

...and stay tuned for more reading...a hell of a lot more all year long and beyond...

You will survive anyway.

Thanks to herd immunity. A new model by the University of Oxford estimates that half the population of the UK could be infected already and thus the UK is well on the way to herd immunity which is almost achieved there.

Of course when the virus then stops spreading because of herd immunity all the social isolation fanatics  will say "See, social distancing worked!". You can't make it up.

The key question is after we survive do we want normality in ten or twenty years or in 4 months? I would prefer 4 months.

Not much else happening so might as well.If these reports gain traction in the mainstream media they can be used as a breaking mechanism to stop the economic decline and then I think things could bounce back as quickly as they went haywire.

off-guardian.org is on a list of propaganda sites that specialise in distributing misinformation.

Propaganda or not?

Strange that the university itself makes no similar claim?

Looks like an authentic Government sanctioned site but I'm having trouble believing it.Being sarcastic in case someone takes me seriously.

A review of your source:

In review, OffGuardian reports news with a pro-Russian bias. Many articles are very critical of the Ukraine, such as this Ukraine admitted to interfering in the 2016 US election on Clinton’s side. This story does not offer hyperlinked sourcing, but rather translations of documents. OffGuardian also frequently promotes conspiracy theories regarding GMO’s such as this: Post-Brexit Farming, Glyphosate and GMOs. Although this story utilizes some credible sources, it also cites Mercola, which is a website that promotes quackery level pseudoscience. They also promote 9/11 conspiracies such as this The Fakest Fake News: The U.S. Government’s 9/11 Conspiracy Theory. They frequently cover False Flags and the US Deep State conspiracy as well anti-vaccination propaganda.

In an article by Ukrainian fact checker’s, Stop Fake, they write about the OffGuardian as “Russian trolls exiled from Guardian find home for their hate.” Politically, there is a wide range of opinions expressed, with many falling on the pro-socialist side, such as this: Anti-Capitalism is NOT Anti-Semitism.

Overall, we rate OffGuardian a Strong Conspiracy and Moderate Pseudoscience website that also promotes Russian propaganda.

A rather poor attempt to discredit the statements of eminent scientists. A cursory look at the Washington Post article referred to in the off-guardian site reveals that the scientist said EXACTLY what was quoted on the off-guardian website.

So, no, it's not propaganda. Turns out a lot of scientists don't share this social distancing fanaticism.

Hey nauseus, that's because that paper by the University of Oxford scientists is still being discussed.

But thanks to the free press in the UK and their excellent research we get a glimpse already.

"Lots of media reports are citing the results of an epidemiological model developed by researchers at Oxford University that suggests that half the population of the United Kingdom may already have been infected by the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19. If this is true, that would be great news! Why? Because it would mean that the coronavirus is vastly less lethal than many researchers fear that it is and that lockdowns can be lifted soon."

Your British chief medical adviser was better than ours. Credit where credit is due, Sir Patrick Vallance got it right. Herd immunity was the way to go.

The interviews quoted in this article were not done by OffGuardian...

Otherwise I don't know of any media which is totally independent and not biased in favor of X or Y...

Most people that will (or already have) caught the Covid virus will have no symptoms. So they don't even get tested meaning that we can't even estimate the fatality rate. Interesting to note that in the countries that are doing the most testing, fatality rates are the lowest.

The main problem with this particular virus is that of those that DO show symptoms, about 20% have to go into hospital, needing a respirator, and a fair proportion of them need ICU's, meaning that the health services are overwhelmed. The whole point of all these regulations and restrictions is that governments are trying to reduce the rate at which new cases appear, not to prevent or stop the disease.

Young masseuses are not in danger.

It's true, some 80 year olds will have difficulties to survive if the virus comes. But is that a reason to cause a 30% contraction of GDP for the US in one quarter?

These gentlemen would most likely have died of other causes anyway at their advanced age, superb massages in Pattaya not withstanding.

This massive over-reaction by so many people has to be caused by social media, governments trying to appear that they are doing something. And you can't be done for doing too much, only for doing too little.

It has to be fear. Once a panic wave gets going it's very hard to talk some reason into a heard of panicked buffalos.

Here is more:

It seems that the more a country test, the lower its death rate from the virus.

In other words, it is possible that the virus lethality is way below what is claimed everywhere... because almost everwhere the tests are made only on people severely affected, ignoring plenty of other infected persons.
