PM Prayut Chan-o-cha today (March 26) issues six guidelines to the Covid-19 centre.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha today (March 26) issued six guidelines to the Covid-19 centre which is tasked with tackling the virus outbreak, according to its spokesman Dr Taweesilp Visanuyothin.

Topping the list is the requirement that all parties involved will have to propose action plans in details, while the centre will seek cooperation and input from social sectors to overcome the crisis.

The centre will also follow up results of the emergency decree enforced today and propose remedy measures as well as ensuring sufficient medical supplies.

In addition, the centre will coordinate with experts to educate people on social distancing.

He added that the meeting today did not discuss the issue of curfew.

Today is the first day Thailand comes under a state of emergency, which will last until April 31. Checkpoints are set up in many areas and along many roads nationwide to screen the body temperature of people for signs of Covid-19 infection.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in Thailand soared past the 1,000 mark today with 111 new cases confirmed over a 24-hour period, said.

Sujariyakul Anupong, an expert in preventive medicine at the Department of Disease Control, said today(March 26). The total number of cases now stands at 1,045.

Jack of all trades.................................master of none !

  • Look, just stop using logic. You know it's not applicable here.

  • That's twice now it's been announced he didn't discuss a curfew. Coming soon.   Will those manning the checkpoints be told that people directly in the sun will have a slightly higher

Will those manning the checkpoints be told that people directly in the sun will have a slightly higher body temperature than someone in an aircon vehicle?

When I'm out cycling, interacting with no one, will I now be deemed to be 'at risk' even though my 'social distancing' is better than most others out travelling?

Kiss you're A$$ goodbye spring's to mind

the ambiguity , the playing down of the enveloping situation for fear of spooking the tourist destination image , the ridiculous over blowing of medicines not dedicated to nor clinically proven against C V , the lack of co-ordinated public information and now recently the stampede out of Bangkok to the provinces by 000's are some though not all the factors that have contributed to a situation which they can now only chase or try and react to .. and given how it has proliferated in some other countries that does not bode well ..

Strange, how (for once) he is willing to excuse foreigners breaking his directives, while waiting in the 100's, in close proximity at the Immigration offices.

I can imagine what his response would be though, something to the tune of:

"well, foreigners being the carriers should know about social distancing, up to them if they want to huddle in groups, its not on me"

But Yes, i suppose it is the farangs fault for not forming a socially distanced line 2 metres apart stretching from Mochit to Chaengwattana.

This guy's arrogance, combined with a national emergency he is neither mentally nor intellectually equipped to handle, could (hopefully) lead to the implosion of modern day Thailand as we know it and the emergence of a better, more egalitarian society. The sad part is the number of unnecessary deaths it will take to achieve it!

if your temp is taken on skin surface you will be taken away by men in white suits as you will be showing 40c + as I have pointed out on several threads you cannot take body temp on skin surface outdoors in the sun

Surely it's obvious: They tested the thermometer on themselves, and because they did it while standing in the sun decided they were at risk and went home sick.

To true!  When the 2 local brainiacs fitted a new double door frame to the guest room on refitting the doors and marking the hinge points by chocking both doors from the bottom at the same time....no that's to hard....they did one door at a time....and both doors are out!  Now the magnetic door holders are out of alignment with the stoppers.  Said to the missus don't pay them till they fix it....but she pAid the brainiacs because they said they would come back and fix it. That was a year ago!  ????

Errr does this mean it will extend past the end of April as there are only 30 days in April..... LOL

If they want anything done half right it should be the doctors dictating him what to do, not the opposite. He's now a roadblock. Or mayby he wants to show his Mao-ness to the masters by slaughtering a few million.

You lose track of time in quarantine. I suppose could scratch the wall to count.

"Topping the list is the requirement that all parties involved will have to propose action plans in details, while the centre will seek cooperation and input from social sectors to overcome the crisis."

"Propose action plans", "seek cooperation", "input from social sectors"...

The time for this is over. It's time for a strong leader to take control...unfortunately you are neither strong, nor a leader...

Thailand is another Iran in the making...

Mr. Big Man trying to look important!  What about doing something about the fires in the north that are harming people?  I wonder if this is all about deliberate genocide and taking freedom away from us!

I know it's whimsy, but I kinda hope that this government will remain true to form and completely cock up the Coronavirus pandemic in Thailand, and that out of it all will spring a renewed society. I doubt it will happen of course, and I fully expect this guy Chan-o-Cha will manage to weasel his way out of any responsibility for the inevitable debacle that is on the horizon.

Still, one can dream, and I have to confess that it's a very pleasant dream, even if it's not entirely realistic.
