hello fellas,

i'm currently in pattaya and my hotel is about to close, because they want to "sanitize" everything. so i was looking for a good/cheap room in soi buakhao, but most i have visited are ether old or highly overpriced. she wanted 16k baht / month from me for a small 30qm room with broken closet. i've read in the forum some was speaking about cheap/good bungalows in pattaya, but i can't find the post anymore? you guys have any recommendations for me, where i can stay now? any help is appreciated. budget up to 15k baht / month, but cheaper is also fine, because i dont know how long i am forced to stay here, since my airplane does not fly anymore to europe / germany. thank you.

If you look North side of 3rd road or behind Big C Extra there should be many from 6k, you can walk but using a motorbike would be better, alternatively Soi Buakhao will have loads for rent.

One just dropped off Klang is Navin Mansion 2, usually ask for 15k, friend was offered 6k. Try this one

Club Baku soi buakhao  12000 pm looks a nice room.

From their facebook page, room looks nice (50" tv), girls look a bit chubby.

Flights left early this morning to Stockholm and Middle East and there appears to be London flights on BA and Thai Airways.

Try Soi Honey Inn, some cheap places there. Intown, New Star, Tossaporn... if they haven't been knocked down yet to make way for condos.

There must be 1000+ rooms on Soi Buakhao and the Soi's that go off it.

5 to 7,000 a month can get a place with internet, TV, aircon, etc.

Maybe less in a LB building.

You are there, so I suggest you walk around and look.

Also Eurowings EW1207 in the air as I write enroute from Bangkok to Munich, Thai Airways to both Zurich and Munich still running for now.  Still several choices.

He was looking for the names of a few buildings. I looked around Soi Lengkee a while ago and asked in three places if they did a monthly rate. Yes came the reply with a beaming smile. Well what is it then, I asked. A calculator was produced, the daily rate put in × 30 and the total was showed to me accompanied by the same beaming smile. Same performance in all three. Gets a bit wearing, which is why he was looking for names.

Try View Talay 2A or 2B in Jomtien...15,000 baht per month or less should get you a nice condo...

You may have to go there in person to see what is available...

Good Luck!

Watch your electric bills, you should not pay more than about 4Bt per unit, which is the government rate.

Some landlords will charge you double that, just check before you sign anything.

If others in same situation, all side roads up from soi Bua Khao have lots of vacant apartments now, some with aircon hot water, ref and tv. Start from 6,000 per month with a/c, deposit can be negotiated down to 3,000 Some apartments even cheaper without a/c.

Airbnb has 1000s of vacant units right now, mostly in Jomtien area, a few in Pattaya. Big discounts already, down 50-70%

Per 15 April, ALL hotels closed.

Not sure where this 15K for a condo is coming from.  My friend rents a 3 bedroom house, each room with air con, large western kitchen,  large garden, in Bang Saray, for 15K a  month.  Get out of pattaya and live a iittle.

At the moment that sounds pretty good.... but under normal circumstances it works both ways. I live well out of town and miss the proximity of a lot of things. Bang Saray would be boring.

I am not bored with Bang Saray but I don’t need many of Pattaya’s attractions. For those that I do occasionally use it is a 30 minute trip in.

Horses for courses.

Yes, on the whole. I was even looking at  property out there myself some years ago. The 30 minute trip in is not my issue, but getting home after a night out, or even a trip to a bar to watch some football. Still, all irrelevant these days.

I'd find it hard to believe that a) someone couldn't find a cheap(ish) place to stay on/near Soi Buakhao at any time of the year, virus or no virus and b) can't (or couldn't) get a flight back to Germany, especially 2 weeks ago.

A) 2 guys I know come to Pattaya every winter for 4-5 months. They have zero problems arriving and within a day finding a Serviced Apartment in the 8,000/month range. Not big, not fancy, but all they need is a place to sleep, shower, watch some TV and check email.
One guy meanders from year to year between places a little East of Big C Extra (Pattaya Klang) and other places slightly West of #3 road. He likes to hang out on Soi Buakhao as well and doesn't mind a short walk there and back.
Signs are posted all over the place for rooms, apartments and serviced apartments, though for some you may actually have to enter the place and ask someone the rate. Most are willing to show you one of the rooms as well.
(Pro tip from my friend - make sure there are no bars in the immediate vicinity - unless you don't plan on sleeping until after they all close and the music finally stops blaring ! That's why he doesn't stay at any place right on soi Buakhao itself.)
(Of course, loud bars shouldn't be an issue right now !)

B) Lufthansa and several other airlines have been running flights almost daily the entire time (Lufthansa and Qatar both still have 3-4 flights a week even now). According to the email the Embassy sent out last night:
Lufthansa is flying to Frankfurt on Mondays/Thursdays and Saturdays.
KLM is flying to Amsterdam on Mondays and Saturdays.
Qatar Air is flying to Doha (with connections to Germany) daily (supposedly, though I think in reality it's 5 flights a week)

Pretty sure that most people who actually wanted to return home (anywhere) wouldn't have a problem getting out of Thailand even now. (There are also flights almost daily to Korea and Japan, with connections from there to North America and other destinations.) Some people might have a problem. Some.

On a 15k a month budget, you should be able to get a fairly nice place, even a decent serviced apartment (which basically just means daily/weekly cleaning).

Of course you could go "Thai style" and rent a little room with an attached bathroom for 2,500 a month (no aircon, maybe a mattress on the floor, maybe a crappy old TV with a few Thai language channels).
Just like my first apartment ! I only rented it originally so I'd have a place to leave some clothes and such as I was working overseas and travelling back and forth a couple times a year and found that I was carrying all the same stuff back and forth each time. Ended up renting it for 5 years.

Hopefully not too long before the night out option is back on the agenda.

These days I rarely bother with bars but occasionally I will meet up with a friend to watch a live game in Pattaya - because of the time difference, alcohol intake etc I always stay over. In that sense I make use of Pattaya when I need to, rather than go out habitually as I did in the past. That change in lifestyle makes Bang Saray more appealing.
