The deep South provinces of Pattani and Yala have issued strict orders to deal with Covid-19 and prevent local people from getting infected.

Pattani Governor Kraisorn Wisitwong signed an order on Friday (March 27) after the province was classified as a high-risk area by the communicable disease control committee on Wednesday (March 26).

The order prohibits people from crossing into or leaving Pattani province, except for medical treatment, sterilisation, or transporting necessary products starting from Saturday (March 28).

Only government vehicles, ambulances, rescue cars or vehicles permitted by relevant officials will be allowed to cross the province.

The order also bars Covid-19 patients, as well as those suspected of carrying the virus or other dangerous diseases, from entering or leaving Pattani’s border without official permission.

Meanwhile, Yala Governor Chaiyasit Panichpong signed on Thursday (March 27) an order on preventive measures, singling out four districts – Muang, Raman, Bannang Sata, and Than To – as risky areas.

The order has been effective since Thursday.

People have been prohibited from entering or leaving the risk areas. Those who want to leave the areas must inform communicable disease control officials.

In addition, the officials must determine people’s travel routes in case they get permission to leave.
