Moot point for the families of the 10s of thousands of dead, and the unacceptable number currently in hospitals who may never fully recover, sheer ego driven arrogance

And yet amazingly, the top six EU countries of equal population to the US have far more cases and vastly more deaths than the US. They were even using Chloroquine before Trump mentioned Chloroquine.

EU-6 = UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland :  51,127 dead.

US : 12,857 dead

Why: EU was listening to you know WHO.

He dismantled the pandemic division of the NSC in May of 2018, over the vociferous objections of many experts.

He was warned by a White House official in early January that the pandemic was headed to the US.

He refused the congress in early February, when they asked for an emergency appropriation for Covid.

He closed the border, only to China on Feb. 2nd, but continued to allow Chinese with green cards, and Americans, to travel back and forth to China, with NO screening.

He called this a democratic hoax.

He said this would just go away, like a miracle, and he insisted he had this under control.

Trump is at least partially to blame, for the massive spread of this virus, in the US. He has alot to account for. Fortunately, Covid beat him in the first round, and even Mylie Cyrus could now beat him in November. He is gone, but he just does not know it, and continues his inane games.

A uniform approach would save lives, as Dr. Anthony Fauci keeps trying to tell us. But it would make it harder to blame the states. To win in November, Trump wants to argue that the grim toll of the virus, especially in the hardest-hit places, is the fault of governors. Never mind that his administration dismantled early warning systems for pandemics. Never mind his deadly 70-day delay before taking action last month.

On Tuesday, Trump demoted Glenn Fine, the man tapped last month to independently oversee spending on the $2 trillion federal coronavirus stimulus package. Because Fine, who was the acting inspector general from the Defense Department, was removed from that role, he also lost his chairmanship of the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee (only inspectors general are eligible to be on that committee). No explanation was offered.

Not much WHO and China defense here, mainly criticism of Trump. And those 2 are not the same, all 3 rightly deserve criticism.

I think the point was not much WHO and China discussion here, only Trump.

China lied, people died, and WHO could care less. So the MSM attacks Trump.

Heed the call! Dr Trump has spoken. I truly feel sorry for the citizens of the US.

However, many people have an irrational hate of Donald Trump so they will disagree. If Trump said water was wet they'd disagree. It's a shame they lack the ability to separate their emotions from the cold hard facts.

The WHO has been a bit slow to react as it relies on available information. Here are it's recommendation as of Feb. 28 after analysing the evolution of the epidemic in CHINA

For countries with imported cases and/or outbreaks of COVID-19

1. Immediately activate the highest level of national Response Management protocols to ensure the all-of-government and all-of-society approach needed to contain COVID-19 with non-pharmaceutical public health measures;

2. Prioritize active, exhaustive case finding and immediate testing and isolation, painstaking contact tracing and rigorous quarantine of close contacts;

3. Fully educate the general public on the seriousness of COVID-19 and their role in preventing its spread;

4. Immediately expand surveillance to detect COVID-19 transmission chains, by testing all patients with atypical pneumonias, conducting screening in some patients with upper respiratory illnesses and/or recent COVID-19 exposure, and adding testing for the COVID-19 virus to existing surveillance systems (e.g. systems for influenza-like-illness and SARI); and

5. Conduct multi-sector scenario planning and simulations for the deployment of even more stringent measures to interrupt transmission chains as needed (e.g. the suspension of large-scale gatherings and the closure of schools and workplaces).

As time goes on, he becomes less and less defensible. He continues to shoot himself in the foot daily. If only he could keep his mouth shut, or limit his inane press conferences to five minutes. But, he rambles on and on, and says the most moronic stuff a human being could possibly say. It is not about the MSM attacking Trump. It is about the search for honor, integrity, truth, and reality, and God forbid fact checking, amidst his daily fog, deflection, lies and disinformation campaigns.

Americans can and do easily and eagerly demonstrate there capablility to forgive and are truly accepting. trump could earn so much from admitting his flaws. Same is true of any of those who voted. I have the greatest respect and consideration of anybody admitting they made a mistake voting for him

It doesn't make sense to compare, at one point of time, two cases which are at different stages on the diffusion curve. If you look at the diffusion curve's profiles, it doesn't look better for the US. It will just reach these numbers later.

As for the evoked causality, it doesn't make sense as the epicentre in Europe, Italy, implemented a CHINA travel ban before the US. It also implemented a full ban while the US only initially implemented restrictions.

My point was about China and the WHO, not Trump.

"It is about the search for honor, integrity, truth, and reality, and God forbid fact checking, amidst his daily fog, deflection, lies and disinformation campaigns. "

I certainly agree (and lament with you) if you are talking about what generally ails the US system. It mostly parallels the growing wealth gap that starts about the beginning of Clinton's first term, not that Clinton was solely responsible. It is a system wide malaise. The rest of the world, including the UN and WHO, are not exempt from the same malaise.

So how do we fix it? Maybe a great pandemic will bring us all together so we can begin to see the enemy is not us.

I really don't know why he is complaining. For years we have been hearing that America is No 1 in the world. So now it is No 1 on the covid 19 list of infection cases. What's the problem? ????

Get rid of Ted-dross and read the riot act to WHO. China does have a nefarious way of making people/organizations "comply".

The 'experts' that did not declare a Pandemic until the middle of March?  Ok, release suction now and step away from the w.ho.  ????

Have you read the definition of 'pandemic? Declaring a pandemic is not an assessment of dangerousness, it's an acknowledgement that a disease has spread in several countries and affects a significant number of people. One doesn't declare a pandemic in anticipation, before it occurs.

But isn't Pandemic, (wide spreading) what individual countries need to worry about? Isn't that why we have a declaration? Isn't that WHO's job, to signal countries when to prepare? If not, then why do we need the WHO? Why are they given the responsibility?

The answer is that China delayed each step along the way as long as possible until events forced them to open up, and WHO followed like a puppy dog. They covered up human to human transmission as long as they could. Did you know that Thailand had already sequenced the full genome before China provided it to the world? Thailand simply confirmed within hours "Yep, that's it".  China had no choice but to release it after Thailand had sequenced it.

The WHO did not wait the declaration of pandemic to alert other countries and make recommendations. I.e. below on Feb. 10. Wasn't it a clear warning?

"COVID-19. The coronavirus has a new name but should still be treated as public enemy number one. That's the message from the World Health Organisation (WHO), in its gravest warning yet about the deadly outbreak.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned governments not to underestimate the political and social risks of the virus, which has already killed more than 1,000 people, but added that countries can realistically thwart the threat if enough resources are allocated.

“Viruses can have more powerful consequences than any terrorist action,” Ghebreyesus said during a daily briefing on Tuesday.

That's the point its author made. Maybe talk to him?

Trump is on his way to promoting confusion so he can blame everyone except himself for the high death toll in the USA.  The Republicans who voted against impeachment are just as much to blame for this crisis.

Vote in November like your life depends on it.  Contact your home town Congressman to find out how to vote from overseas if you have not done so already.

Trump and Fox news used to say different things about the virus and its dangers in

the beginning. Now they have changed their attitudes, and are trying to act

like they are heroes, disgusting.  Supporters of this clown seem to think

he is their savior now?  I cannot believe it.

Geezer

Every leader of every country was saying different things in the beginning.

No one saw this as being as big as it has become.

The disgusting behavior as usual comes from the MSM and Left trying to rewrite history pretending they would have moved earlier, better, differently.

For them it is a political opportunity not to me missed.

The more die the better to bash Trump with, for them (many on here included) getting rid of Trump would be worth it no matter the number of dead.

Trump is doing a decent job and trying to save lives, without the benefit of hindsight.

Ooo.. Trump’s not gonna like you, saying that he’s doing only a decent job. He believes he’s doing a great job, an excellent job, 10 out of 10 if I’m not mistaken.

Same as Trump: try to blame someone else for their failure. Japan refused to impose lockdown and is currently experiencing a surge of epidemic. Just as pathetic as Trump.

It is the fault of Obama, China, WHO or perhaps the Martians but as he said he will never take responsibility at all.

Timing is the issue here.  The WHO actually chastised countries that enacted proactive travel bans early on, and were late calling the spread to other countries, once again suckling China's gonads. Wake up and release your suction.
