The Thai fascination for gold is an interesting one.

 

Many times have I seen Thai girl (or man) with a large piece of gold, which is worn for a week to show off and then is never seen again as the piece is taken to the gold shop and exchanged for 1000 baht notes.

 

I think it seems more acceptable than asking for cash.

I agree, with a caveat.

I've approached this as a gradual process, buying her a gold item for her birthdays, ensuring she is taken care of in my will. Putting a roof over her head. The relationship builds slowly, so should the money flow.

It's not a good idea to give a Thai woman what she wants immediately. She might get the idea your resources are limitless. There have been times I have said to my GF no, you will have to wait.
