A new mobile application called Mor Chana has been launched to support ongoing COVID-19 contact tracing efforts in Thailand. The community-driven app offers a contact tracing solution that enables smartphone device users to perform self-assessment and determine the risk level of infection based on exposure and travel history. It is designed to track the spread of the novel coronavirus, prompt quick and accurate public health responses, and ensure effective and measurable social distancing measures.

Temples nationwide told to avoid Songkran, religious ceremonies

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Most of Thailand's provinces have banned sales of alcoholic beverages, heeding a central government call to discourage festive celebrations for the Thai New Year as the country seeks to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Man 20, surrenders to police with one ya bah pill so he can get food in prison

PHUKET: Police today they said they had no choice but to arrest a 20-year-old man who presented himself at Wichit Police Station with just one pill of ya bah (methamphetamine) so he could be sent to prison and get food.

Russia airlifts 228 tourists trapped in Phuket

PHUKET: A 28-year-old man was found dead on Rang Hill in Phuket Town yesterday afternoon (Apr 10) after he leapt from the viewpoint in what family members believe was suicide, report police.

Phetchaburi makes beaches off limits, bans water sport activities

Without Songkran traffic, vehicles on highways down 44 per cent

The Department of Highways has said that people travelling outside Bangkok on highways has reduced by 44 per cent. To prevent outbreaks of Covid-19, the government has issued measures that have reduced public movement outdoors. Vehicles exiting Bangkok via highways is 44 per cent lower compared to the Songkran festival last year.

3,500 hotel rooms readied as quarantine facilities for Thai returning from abroad

The Government is preparing about 3,500 private hotel rooms, in Bangkok and in the provinces, to house returning Thais in quarantine once the ban on incoming international flights, imposed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), expires.

Provinces increase COVID-19 screening capacity

BANGKOK(NNT) - Cities and provinces in Thailand are improving their facilities and services for COVID-19 screening and tests. Bangkok City Hall has launched a website where users can fill in a risk assessment form, and started a mobile testing service for persons at high-risk. Elsewhere, Udon Thani has opened a field hospital specifically for respiratory disease patients, the first of its kind in the northeastern region.

Due to the current situation with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Department of Health has recommended people send their wishes and receive blessings via phone or online. To maintain a safe distance and help prevent the spread of COVID-19, they can also send online gifts to their loved ones.
