A Thai wife who has been with her Australian husband making a home together in Thailand defended her man after the Department of Special Investigations came to take him away.

William J.P., 63, has been named in multiple counts of sexual abuse of under 10s in New South Wales. He is an internationally wanted suspect.

The Thai authorities were contacted by the Australian embassy about the man.

On Saturday at Klong Song housing estate in Plaeng Yao district of Chachoengsao they arrested the Australian.

He said he had made a home with his wife "A" (an assumed name) for the last 5 or 6 years. He left NSW knowing there were charges against him.

"A" said she knew nothing about any claims of this nature against her husband. He had never revealed anything to her.

She told INN that her husband is a good person who looks after her and her extended family.

She said that she would let the law run its course.
