Another fall in new COVID-19 cases in Thailand

BREAKING.jpg

Thailand on Thursday reported 29 new COVID-19 cases and 3 more deaths.

A further 96 people have now been discharged after making a full recovery, said Taweesin Wisanuyothin, a spokesman for the government's Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration.

Of the new cases, 14 patients were linked to previous cases, five had no links to old cases, and 10 that tested positive are awaiting investigation into how they were infected, said Taweesin Wisanuyothin, a spokesman for the government's Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration.

There are now a total of 2,672 cases in Thailand and 46 fatalities with 1,593 people already discharged.

Encouragingly, Dr Taweesin also announced that 25 out of Thailand’s 77 provinces have not reported any new COVID-19 cases in past 14 days.

Reuters contributed to this report.

Hopefully this covid nightmare will be over soon!

  • I question if all COVID-19 cases are reported. I see plenty of village folks in the rural areas  not practicing “social distancing”.  Oh, I forgot, it is only “farangs “ that spread the virus.????

Sun rises in the west and sets in the east. Probably more believable.

Did they run out of tests? Sadly they don't tell use how many people were tested.

Maybe 2 days ago they made 1000 tests, 100 tested positive. Yesterday they made 500 tests, 50 tested positive. Then there will be a news saying "corona cases 50% down"

  • Popular Post

I bet the numbers will not increase before 1 May.

Wonder why I know that.

No need to wonder. Not all cases are tested and or counted in any country. The real question is to what degree. The answer is no way to know.

if number of infections down that means number of tests down as well, it's all relative, if previously they were testing 600-700 day now maybe testing 300-400 day.... unfortunately the number of deaths keeps steady

  • Popular Post

Oh well, if you're scared that the numbers are so very wrong, and the next wave is coming and coming again, and outside all is full of infected people, then just stay in your room, keep wearing masks, keep on social distancing, stay safe.

Realist thank you. 26 new cases in a population of 70,000,000 with very little testing and one of the most virulent virus humanity has ever encountered.

By The Nation

Thailand’s total number of Covid-19 patients rose to 2,672 with 29 new cases confirmed over a 24-hour period, and two more deaths, Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government's Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said on Thursday (April 16).

This compares with 54 new cases last Thursday, 50 on Friday, 45 on Saturday, 33 on Sunday, 28 on Monday and 34 on Tuesday and 30 on Wednesday.

He said the situation is still a cause for concern. “We should not ease lockdown restrictions too early “ he said.

Of the total patients 1,593 have recovered fully and 1,077 remain in hospitals.

Thailand’s death toll from coronavirus now stands at 46 with three more deaths on Thursday.

I'm with you... Their numbers are fictional but the curve has been flattened...

Lets get back to work and living life again...

More people will die everyday anyway, never going to stop that !!!

Thailand has been one of the best examples of how to contain the virus and the incredibly low number of deaths is the proof.

Thailand acted quickly and closed down non-essential services, told people to stay home, closed borders, even provincial borders, made wearing masks mandatory, sanitized hands and took temps at all public entrances, wiped down handrails and door handles.

The US has a case death rate per capita over ten times that of Thailand. So does the Netherlands, Spain and Italy.

America’s reaction was to hoard toilet paper.

Thailand is doing ten times better that a half dozen 1st world countries. Why be so cynical?

'There are now a total of 2,672 cases in Thailand and 46 fatalities with 1,593 people already discharged.'

Why do they always trumpet the recovered cases as 'live' cases?

Reality is 'a bit under a thousand.'

Neighbours Lao, Burma and Cambodia have no reported deaths, how did they manage that...?

Nothing to do with usurpers running out of petty cash and being forced to let the dogs out or be ousted. Nothing to see here, move along.

I know everyone is doubting the Government figures but there doesn't seem to be many cases in Thailand. No ambulances banked up waiting to get into hospitals, no people showing photos of severe PPE shortages on social media etc.

Bangkok right now is deserted, even Asoke in midday you will barely see 6 people. Hard to pass on covid 19 infection when there is no one around to pass it onto.

What you say is partially true. NPI are essential but so is testing. If Thailand was testing at the rate of say the US, Australia, Taiwan or South Korea the numbers would be somewhat different.

What date did Thailand report it's 1st case ? Mid January wasn't it ??

What date did Thailand restrict access to foreigners ???

I'm glad the numbers appear relatively low there but don't say they acted quickly, they waited as long as possible until no tourists were arriving and then closed....

i see many duly doubting govs nos, understandable given their behaviour over so many yrs.BUt.....we all know how difficult it is to keep a secret and we have socail media everywhere, this would indicate deaths are a different proposition.when ones closest passes away and social media is available the secret will get out.this gives me a fair amount of faith that these  death figs are reasonably accurate, also i dont see hospitals full of cases and i can see a very large private hospital from my balcony.be positive people theres so much negatoivity out there, look at the tv  aggghhh, end of the world 24 7 shut up please

Sound advice. Or in reverse, if you want to catch the virus, go out and mingle.

The usurpers will now be forced to open it because they ran out of cash ( well the small pile they were willing to depart with ) and next wave is inevitable.

Their "Confirmed" number means nothing if they are not publishing "Probable", "Asymptomatic" and daily numbers of test conducted. They, meaning MoPH, are not.
