Featured Replies

Hi, where can i buy strong antibiotics over the counter in central Bangkok? They need to be the real thing.

Thanks for any help

Most if not all  local pharmacies will sell

Virtually all antibiotics can be bought at pharmacies here.

It is not a matter of a "strong" antibiotic. It is a matter of :

1. Whether antibiotic is needed at all - it is not unless there is a bacterial infection present. Viral infections do nto respond to antibiotics, neither do fungal.

2. If there is bacterial infection then need an antibiotic that is effective against the specific bacteria involved. Different antibiotics are effective against different bacteria, no antibiotic is effective against all. An antibiotic could be perfectly "strong" but not effective against the particular bacteria you have, Which is why the choice of antibiotic is better made by a health professional.

Counterfeits are not an issue at any real pharmacy (as opposed to street vendor).

Thanks for the replies.

I went to Boots in Siam paragon yesterday and bought some 'Cravit' which was recommended by the Pharmacist there for my particular ailment. Cost was 525thb for 5 tablets! ????

One a day for 5 days. Already looking and feeling better!

Cheers ????

There should be no such things.
Sadly, there are a lot of such things.

Boots is expensive in Thailand for medicines. A generic version of levofloxacin should cost about half of that in a Thai pharmacy.
