Bay leaf and peppermint plant

Featured Replies

Does anybody have bay leaf and/or peppermint plants? I wonder if I can have some stems for propagation? I only see spearmint in the market, but not peppermint, and the bay leaf plant here is different than the ones I've used in California. Or, if any know a nursery in Bangkok I can pick them up, the information will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

You might find what you're looking for at the plant market at JJ Market, Tuesday afternoons to Wednesday afternoons (double check if that is still the case nowadays - don't know if they've cancelled it due to covid or not). They have a pretty wide range of plants. Don't know if they have what you're looking for or not.

The best Mint Plants come from the Mountain Market areas before you reach Mae Sot. Its the soil type that mint loves.

Peppermint doesn't like heat. Bay leaf ditto. Other mint types grow wild here.

There is usually a good reason why certain plants aren't readily available in Thailand, and there is usually a good, or even better, substitute that likes it here.
