He was soon found to be in possession of a knife"

Ah -  a "world class tourist in a "world class resort"??

If you read the full article they got a warning the day before but just continued to disobey the order.

Regardless of some  illustrious thoughts expressed by some on here the Army & Police have their orders.

No sympathy from me

Good job. I see it with my own eyes here in Pattaya every day. Some people don't care about restrictions and laws and such people need attitude adjustments.

Why not go the whole hog and give them a lobotomy?

Yes-so crowd them in to a pick-up and totally ignore social distancing.

You are right. First they don't care about the beach rules and then in addition the don't care about social distancing. They should get punished for both violations ????

Right now there are no tourists in Thailand, only locals and foreignors. Everyone is on lockdown,

with signs to say no gatherings or beach activities. If you disobey the signs, too bad

for you. The smart people went back home to other countries. The expats

should know that they will be treated sort of like the locals, but because they

also have money, they will not get off with just a wai and stern warning.

I try to be careful in Thailand, even when times were good.

Geezer

& the Orwellian army will continue to defend the "Government" regardless?

Reminds me:-

"Then they came for me-

and there was no one left to speak for me"

"First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me."

Should add a line:
"Then they came for the (Covid-carrying) farangs
And I did not speak out

Because I was not a farang.

They were exercising, sitting around on mats and swimming without a care in the world.

Dang...that's hard core. Nip it in the bud now before they start to brew coffee and setup a Tiki bar

It is not about health or any other "Corona" excuse, it is about extending absolute power. The political pot in Bangkok is boiling already and it is of survival importance for those in charge to keep the voices as much down as possible.

Breaking the curfew costs THB 40'000 per person - as we know - just wondering, if all those 18'000 they caught lately, have meanwhile paid up.

While most Thais can be herded around like sheep, some Thais are - quite obviously - of a different opinion and decided to spend some time strolling along the beach. The "dirty farang" are of course a different thing. They have no say whatsoever and must abide by the law, irrespective of if they make sense or not. Unclear is the fining of such breaches.

Once it comes to "dirty farang", it makes you wonder, why - on the very same day - the honourable Pipat Ratchakitprakarn in his capacity as minister of tourism, was poking around the reanimation of Thailand's tourism business?

In normal times tourists are fined for enjoying an afternoon beer between 2 and 5 pm, smoking at the beach is punishable with THB 100'000, Wednesday is "no beach day" and setting up a beach chair in Phuket was fined with THB 2'500 - like the "no sunbrella" law.

The honourable Pipat might get his tourism house in order first. Move those TAT clowns all out of their absolutely useless circuses, get some common sense into Thailand's tourism by studying, what the customer (Chinese or dirty farang) want and need.

Stop overcharging and two tier pricing. In other countries locals do not pay a dime to visit one of the sites in their own country, while visitors are charged a nominal fee. Accepted, and nobody has a problem with this.

But if I drive with my car through Khao Yai National Park, my dual citizen grandson costs THB 20 while the old geezer dirty farang grandpa (that would be me) has to dish out THB 400 - go figure.

Makes you wonder, what tourism in this country is all about - or not? Pipat is certainly not in this job because of a juicy paycheck; he knows better. In 2011 he and his wife declared combined assets of just over 300 million Baht; nine years later he sits on at least a billion - according to the media.

If we don't get back to normal soon there is going to be anarchy anyway.

Yeh I hear you, I am pretty much over it, but have no choice really as I have a pre-existing condition which is a concern with this invisible killer, but need to get out to smell the roses, suppose I have to take the risk sooner or later, looking forward to stretching the legs and going on a domestic holiday with he kids, as for the kids returning to school, that's another story, might have to split the back of the house into my zone only and keep the kids away from me, sad really.

It's about containing the potential spread and we all have to do our part for what it's worth, laws are laws, yes some are over the top, but without them you will have anarchy.

And with them continuing soon too

3rd Reich also had restrictions and laws. Not obeying in many cases led to death. Gov Restrictions and laws are not God-given, but man made. Some make sense and are good. Some are just complete nonsense and do more harm than good. Using public transportation. Allowed. Using elevators. Allowed. Long queues at Immigration. Allowed. Swimming in the sea. Not allowed. Where is the logic??? But, who expects logic here anyways.

For sure not everything was perfect. But take for instance the immigration. They saw the problems and changed them pretty quickly. When I applied for my retirement extension recently in Jomtien I didn't have to wait a minute. And a problem like Corona is new. They have to find out what works and what not. They are just humans too ????

is this an anti-foreigner website? - why not post about the Thai's on the beach as well?

For those deficient in reading skills, the article in fact mentions twelve Thais picked up in the same sweep.

Please read the entire articles before making ignorant remarks based only on headlines
