Almost 9,000 houses in 41 provinces have been destroyed by a summer storm and need aid from the government, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said.

Director-general Monton Sudprasert said a high pressure system that collided with heat caused a powerful storm in the northern, northeastern, eastern and central regions of Thailand.

The department collaborated with local governments to evaluate the damages after the storm eased, so those affected could be assisted.

Local officials have sent aid packages and helped reconstruct damaged houses. Those in need of help are asked to contact hotline 1784.

That's great, now they can't burn so the horrendous PM 2.5 levels will go down and hopefully you will get the extreme privilege to breathe clean air for the next few months! ????

Absolutely nowt in Phitsanulok.

There has not been one huge single "storm" but a large number of smaller storm cells circulating around the country for the last 2 to 3 days. If you have had no rain at all in Phitsanulok then that's because most of these storms have mainly occurred all around you but away from your area. Hope you get some water soon - good chance.

Thanks I do realise that. The forecasts usually say 50% chance of rain in 10% of the province, or words to that effect. We really do need water in my area west of P'lok.
