Poor resident tries to return B1k gift left in food-relief parcel

PHUKET: A local resident in Cherng Talay suffering from the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions tried to return a B1,000 banknote tucked into a food-relief parcel in a true act of honesty, only to find out that the money was placed inside the parcel intentionally.

Phuket officials report zero new confirmed COVID cases

PHUKET: As the island looks towards the lifting of at least some of the “Phuket Lockdown” restrictions this Friday (May 1), the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO) today (Apr 29) reported zero new cases of people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus in the preceding 24 hours.

SRT resumes services on eight routes to reduce crowd

BMA gives green light for activities to resume in eight areas

Drought hits 27 provinces, fleet of water trucks deployed

A total of 27 provinces across the country have reported they are suffering drought conditions, Monton Sudprasert, director general of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, said on Wednesday (April 29). Of the drought-hit provinces, seven are in the North, 10 in the Northeast, and the remaining 10 in the Central and Western regions.

COVID-19 causes about one trillion baht in damage to Thai economy

The overall damage Thailand’s national economy, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, is currently estimated at about one trillion baht, while business confidence for the first quarter of this year has dropped to 47.2, which is the lowest in almost two years, according to the forecast by the Centre for Economic and Business Forecasts of the University of Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC).
