Weather And Water On Ko Tao Right Now

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

If you happen to be on Ko Tao right now, I'd appreciate it if you could tell me what the weather's like now. I'll be coming tomorrow or the next day, but I heard it's been raining.

Thanks!

Fortunately it has indeed been raining! But it's sunny again since the 14th.

As for the water: thanks to the rain most places (where people are smart enough to catch rain water) will have clean water again for the next 2-4 weeks.

Thanks for your post!

Have there been problems with fresh water on Ko Tao? Have the seas been rough for ferries to cross? Took a ferry from Ko Tao to Chumpon once - 4 and 5 m waves, smashed out the front window of the ferry and came in!

I'm also wondering about water clarity. If it's been raining, it tends to cloud up.

Thanks again

Oh yeah, one more thing - know of any reasonably accurate forecast sites that would cover Ko Tao area? EVERY site gives a different forecast it's crazy.....

Xylo, did you mean water for diving or freshwater?

Water for diving, don't know about Koh Tao but here on Koh Phangan its pretty windy (sunday today) looks like top waves to me, and it hasn't been windy for long, so, it should be fairly clear.

Freshwater situation: It poured down all day on Songkran (yeah!) so that should help for the short term but believe the long-term water situation is pretty dire if we don't get more days like the 13th.

Dived Chumpon Pinnacvle this morning (mon 16th) vis about 20 meters, sea calm as you like, couple of heavy showers have hit, other than that the Turtle is doing allright

Dived Chumphon Pinnacle today (17th) and similar conditions, but there were 3 whales at the surface after the dive!

All around dive conditions are really good right now and the sea is flat like a mirror.
