BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's manufacturing production index (MPI) declined for the 11th straight month in March, down 11.25% from a year earlier, hurt by lower production of cars, sugar and petroleum, the industry ministry said on Wednesday.

The performance compared with a forecast drop of 6.25% in a Reuters poll, and against February's revised decline of 4.24%.

Capacity utilisation in March was 67.22%, after February's revised 66.06%.

Thai industrial output will continue to sputter.  And they have a renewed problem: the resurgent Baht.  Up 2% on USD in just three weeks.  Good luck, Thailand—you will need it.

Expect the Labour layoff,s to start coming thick and fast.

With capacity utilization at about 67%, there will be little need for hands on the production lines, andits going to worse as the Year goes on.

If the SET is mirroring Wall Street, an 11% drop in production should cause an 11% rise in the SET stock indexes.
