Story about latest Thai fling

Hi there, first time poster and long time lurker. Just wanted to share my experiences in BKK in the last week. To cut a long story short I was recently in Thailand getting divorced (I am 38 years old) at the local Amphur and had some time to kill in BKK before flying out to Australia during the lockdown. Don't worry, all good, all divorced (thankfully), back safe in Australia. But here's what happened in BKK.

I had some time to kill so hit the dating sites. Needless to say got chatty with a 28 year old girl living in BKK, originally from Nong Khai, Issan girl. Perfect english, educated in a BKK university, pretty good looking for us farangs, skinny and a good conversationalist. Had dated only farang men in the past (red flag I know but I didn't care). Was open about her bf giving her a monthly stipend of 100,000B. She had been single for 1 year but was with the last dude (american) for a few years. Don't know why that ended but can probably guess. Due to COVID-19 we were limited as to where we could go. Only take-away outlets open.

First date - Met up at the local shopping mall near BTS Thong Lor. Walked around got coffee.

Second date - Invited myself to her place, said I was bored and wanted to come over. She was living with her cousin in a studio in the area paying 15,000B rent. The place was a sh1tehold and I brought over two bottles of red wine which we finished. I ended up sleeping on her couch and left at 4am shortly after the lockdown period ended. Cousin sleeping in the room, funny business ensued as you could imagine.

Third date - Invited her over to my AirBnB. She ended up staying the night. Did the deed (don't worry, wore a rubber, all good).  She did mention financials but I changed the subject.

This was done over the space of 5 days.

After that she says, I need a "man to take care of me". I didn't say to her we would be an item as I was getting divorced and was going back to Australia for work. Asked for 325,000B to pay her credit card bills. Said she is in trouble, showed me ATM slips, bank statements which were correctly dated. On the phone she broke down in tears saying she is getting sued by the courts for failing to pay her debts. I told her that I couldn't help her, sorry to hear she was in trouble. She then said she wanted to "end things with me and find a man that could take care of her".

Question:

1 - How did she get 325,000B in trouble if she isn't in regular employment?

2 - Are Thai girls good actors like this? I didn't fall for it but is she genuine (she was breaking down in hysterics)?

Bang em and give em 1,000bht ....... no need to listen to their nonsense.

I would have no further contact if I were you!

Shows that you are an a$$ <deleted> around with girls KNOWING that they need support.  Not saying you should give her what she asked for,  but little help and sympathy would not kill you

Don't worry mate, already chatting to 5 other birds.

Just was curious how they can get into so much debt? Look she could be full of <deleted> for all I know. She was definitely getting a ton of money from her ex BF because she had genuine designer good products in her sh1tty little studio., plus pictures of overseas trips living the high life. Absolutely worthless now, nobody wants to buy any of that <deleted>.

Nope. Met up with her with good intentions. Financials not mentioned at all.

I did say at the end I was sorry to learn about her story.

I am sure it was possible but I was chatting to others also and the airbnb was booked for the night.

Look, it's easy to find birds in BKK, we all know that.

Just thinking how she dug herself into such a big hole.

Two possibilities:

1. She's being honest. In which case she is in dire financial straits, soon to become a legal issue through the courts. Which means you should run a mile.

2. She's lying, and trying to extract as much money from you as she can, even at such a very early stage in the relationship. If this is the case, you should run a mile.

It's a lose-lose situation for you. If she does indeed have a monthly stipend of 100k ($3100), then she should not be in any financial trouble unless there is gambling or drugs involved. It's all red flags.

I've never had someone break down like that on the phone. Lucky I wasn't there in person as it could have been messy.

just be careful.... one thing should have warn you from start is the fact that she spoke good/perfect English, meaning she has been around

True love, love and sex. The latter is the cheapest.

I know. I didn't intend to get married to her and told her from the outset I am not looking for a relationship and was literally coming out of a divorce.

was just saying be careful, better move to the next one, change number, as if you have another go with her maybe unexpected guess could be showing up..... if she thinks you are the golden goose,  anything is possible

Very easy to get into serious money problems. Know a Thai lady who was married and her Oz husband gave her 9 million baht a year for nine years.....that is a hell of a lot of money. Now she has absolutely nothing and trying to find work. Where did all the money go? Seems like it was a lot of houses, cars, a hotel, and family members mooching off of her. Sadly she isn’t the brightest bulb and does make terrible choices.....still. So your girlfriend or whatever probably kept borrowing against her income wanting to live the high life.....also they don’t seem to think past today. You dodged a bullet.....keep dodging.

Was open about her bf giving her a monthly stipend of 100,000B

Never in a million years is any man stupid enough to give any Thai woman a 100K Baht allowance each month.

That just does not happen. It's like walking in your supermarket and saying no I won't pay 79 Baht for a litre of Orange Juice, I'll pay 790 Baht instead.

No Orange Juice is that good. It just does not happen.

Plenty of pictures of her in the past few years posted on her Instagram travelling in Asia (none with the guy), 5 star hotels, restaurants, bars etc.

Someone is paying for that and it ain't her.

She's from Issan, OK? The family there probably bought a pickup ( cost 600K - 1.2 M baht ) and put her down as the guarantor when she was getting good coin from the American boyfriend.

Most rural Thais have zero understanding of debt and its consequences. It's taken me years to educate my GF, and she's a lot more street-smart than most.
