That was bail,..he now has to go to court, 

paid 50,000 Baht bail, but don't get it back....I thought that only happened

Only the judge decides the fine, are the courts open on a day to day basis?

On very good authority, it seems they were taken to court and paid 100k fine and retrieved passport from Police station. They had multiple warnings over a few days but kept returning once police left.

What was the actual charge?

 

Did the police demand the bail money?

 

Why was only one person required to pay bail?

Why was there no receipt?

 

This sounds like something that would occur in a communist country like China.

I'm not stupid or blind and don't need to do any research...  
If a law is enacted by a country in which I am a guest I have learnt from many years of experience it's best to abide by it.
If the law is right or wrong is of no consequence... it is the law.

I have to agree with you that being in a country as a guest on visa, you need to follow the laws.

 

What I am seeing these days is just stupidity and corruption from the government. Guess I will just

sit back and drink my now legal alcohol and laugh.

Question is who did he pay to, and why, apparently, the others were not "non-refundable bail fined".
When I paid bail for a friend, I got a receipt and received the money back on court date, when she appeared and the case was dismissed. 
Have to mention in that context that a Volunteer Policeman was very helpful getting the bail paid, even though it was after closing time.

I understand you think the baht you spend here is what keeps

the government going and therefore you deserve something, you don't.

You got to remember like some say you are a guest whatever the rule or law it only applies to us who skin aren't the same color living here if one doesn't know how racist Thais and other Asian country are then this should be a good example if you take a chance and put yourself in a position for something to happen as a guest the price is going to be must different or less say higher.

Yes, everything is true that you say. This is been bothering me for a long time now and ready to leave.

The whole point, is to not let these franchisee creeps scare or intimidate you. I hold my ground with them, push back quite hard, and it genuinely surprises them. I have never in over a decade gotten a strong or hostile reaction from them. Just surprise. Sometimes astonishment. Sometimes they laugh. Most know that we know they are simply franchisees, and NOT law enforcement. Treat them as such. Treat them with the contempt they deserve. I am not nasty with them. I just do not show them much regard or respect. Certainly never any fear. You will be quite surprised, at how often they back down. Most are looking for an easy mark, and expect that with the average foreigner. I have actually found that they tend to defer to us, and I do and say things the average Thai would never dare to do or say. And of course, I would never consider behaving like that with a policeman in the US. I would probably get shot or arrested. Sorry, but I have little tolerance for their games here. 

Weird to pay money to the police without Fully stamped receipt would never do that.. doesn’t seems within the laws,

If they tell you not to jump in the moat because it might have crocodiles in, would you jump in because they were being tyrannical?

That will be 50k Baht they will not see again. Tea money is getting scarse for the cops due to no tourist. Going for the big score in one bust to make up for low tea money these covid19 days.
