Even has Johnny Cash singing rock and roll on one ! (Ballad of a Teenage Queen - 1958). Unfortunately, even though they are all in perfect condition, I don't think they are worth a lot as anything other than memories. He also had a lot of Al Hirt and Henry Mancini which led me to trying to learn how to play the trumpet back when I was 12 or so (never worked out).

They had marked it 'beyond economical repair'. There was a loose wire !!! I needed a record to test it. Bought the 45 from an ex jukebox stock !! 1964 , I was in hospital with a fractured skull , a broken ulna and radius after a doctor pulled across in front of me. I was on a 350cc Ariel. In hospital The house of the rising bum ( as we called it ) was # 1 and so everytime I hear it it reminds me of that. Did get a good payout from his insurance though , money kept 'till I was 21 and in '68 went out and bought a 1956 Series 2 Morgan.

A wooden piece of furniture containing the record player and radio. That time my parents where not rich but I build my own amplifier when I was 12 years old, I remember I had to save for long time to buy my first Philips basic turntable. If I remember well, it was '69 and the price was about 25 dutch guilders.

Popular Post bendejo
Sixteen Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford, 78 rpm. My aunt bought it for me. I must have been 4 years old. 43 minutes ago, Peterphuket said: That time my parents where not rich but I build my own amplifier when I was 12 years old, I remember I had to save for long time to buy my first Philips basic turntable. Suddenly discovered a whole other world of popular music.

One of my 'I was there' moments was seeing DSOTM being performed live for the first time in February 1972 at the Rainbow theatre. It wasn't even called Dark Side - it was introduced as Eclipse. I took in a portable cassette and still have the incredibly bad recording. Only a few months after another 'moment' when I saw Frank Zappa get nudged off the stage (and I have the programme even now..).
