RuamRudy
Growing up in the early 80s, we didn't have anything as old fashioned as a record player. My parents had fully embraced modernity with their mono tape deck for playing their Perry Como and Frankie Valli cassettes. Once I grew out of NOW (a UK top hits franchise that seems still to be going), the first proper band cassette I bought was either Eponymous by REM or Doolitte by the Pixies.
ThailandRyan
April Wine - "Harder.......Faster", it was an 8 track I bought in 1979. Played it in my first car on the Pioneer 8 Track player I had. The Favorite song I had was "I like to Rock"... Popular Post canthai55
Bought my first car - 57 Chevy - for $35 bucks Worked on it for 2 years, just about to turn 16 and get a drivers license. A 'Friend' from school used to supply tape decks - for a price Ordered one. 2 days later it came, along with a beer case full of 8 tracks In that box was Led Zeppelin 2 That album changed my life. Hair got longer, smokes got greener. Was fortunate to have supper with Jimmy Page in Pattaya years ago. Thanked him for it in person Edited May 6, 2020 by canthai55

By the way, 1957 was a good year , though I am sure there are some like my ex wife who will not agree. I was born 06/07/1957

tribalfusion001
The average age of the TVF posters on this thread must be around 70 judging by the old music listed 555 Sex Pistols - The great rock n roll scandal, 7in single, 1979, when in junior school. Although it might have Sham 69 - Hersham Boys also from 1979.

Moonlover
My folks bought our first record player, a Dansette, around 1960. I was a Shadows fan back then, so my first single was possibly Apache. My dad tried to counter my vulgar taste with someone called Jimmy Shand.
