Passenger numbers on Bangkok electric trains more than doubled after lockdown measures were partially lifted on May 3, the Department of Rail Transport said.

The department revealed that passengers on the public transport service increased from 189,000 on May 1 to 400,000 on May 4.

Expecting to see more travellers return as the capital gradually emerges from lockdown, the department has asked passengers to keep their guard up against Covid-19 during train rides.

Passengers are requested to look after their health, wear face masks, leave their homes earlier and follow social distancing measures in stations and on trains.

More dimwit thinking from the usual suspects. How to restart a mass transit system that was already hopelessly overloaded for large parts of the day before CV19 came along? Answers on the back of an envelope addressed to the Minister of Health, please.

To be fair, the BTS wasn't "re-started".  It has operated normally (apart from closing early because of the curfew) all through the "lockdown".

A train every 6 or 7 minutes (which it was during the lockdown) is not

‘normal’.

The new normal looking like the old normal to me what could possibly go wrong ????

I've always said there won't be a "new normal" it's not in people's nature

My Thai relative has to use the Buses and BTS 5 days a week, I pray that

she can stay healthy and not catch the virus. At least in Bangkok most

people wear masks and some gloves and try to get to their destinations

without much conversations etc. In America, I would be scared to death

to have to travel across most of their cities any day.

I will be glad when there is a successful virus for this virus. It is not the

typical Flu, and It is not pneumonia either, just so the posters on this forum

don't try tor comparisons etc.

Geezer

Ok Mr Logic, love to know your solution.  Busy trains during Covid is not a Thai problem.  Nice Thai bash though, well done.

My logic is of no consequence, they don't listen to farang! Judging by the photo, crowded trains IS a Thai problem and from what I've learned in the past weeks, if they don't go to the beach, they should be all right, JB!

Geezer

I don’t have any proof that this is what I believe, just listening to Doctors like ..... Dr Rashid Buttar, Dr Andrew Kaufmann, Dr Judy Mikovits, Dr Erickson and Dr Shiva Ayyadurai to name but a few speaks volumes for basic common sense to me.

Equally there is no doctor, scientist, foundation or organisation that has isolated this virus as per the medical standards.

I have an open mind, if you know something I don’t please educate me.

I do mean that most sincerely.

It's got to happen. If not, neither will herd immunity.
