They did it, wow they really succeeded in doing it, now open it all up and let us travel and party again....NO, if they did they would just be causing more needless suffering and death, but wait that can not be true if you believe the numbers and hundreds of thousands of non-tested people.....

So what does testing many more people accomplish? More panic and more shutdowns. You would have to test every person  in the country at the same time. And that wouldn't be accurate since the virus has an incubation period of 14 days. So you would have to continuously test every person.

The idea in the beginning of all the shutdowns was to flatten the curve and not overwhelm the hospitals. Thailand has far exceeded that plan and now people want to change the goalposts.

I wouldn't want to be tested if I have no symptoms.

How do we know whether the swabs are contaminated in the first place?

They might have used the same swabs on other people and then put it in your mouth by accident.

Anyway, the 14 days are already over last month. If they are infected, they would be sick by now.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand on Wednesday reported no new coronavirus cases for the first time since March 9.

Thailand has a total of 3,017 cases and 56 deaths since the outbreak escalated in January.

The Thai government continues to urge the public to wear masks, practice good hygiene and maintain social distancing measures, said Taweesin Wisanuyothin, a spokesman for the government's Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration.

Areas that are still at risk include Bangkok and surrounding provinces, as well as southern Thailand, where there have been a large number of cases in the past several weeks, Taweesin said.

Since the outbreak in Thailand, 2,844 patients have recovered from infections and gone home.

Zero new Covid-19 cases, for the first time in months

By The Nation

There were no new cases of Covid-19 over a 24-hour period, or any deaths, Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said on Wednesday (May 13), marking one of the best days for Thailand since the outbreak of the pandemic.

“This is the first time that there have been no new cases since we started the daily Covid-19 reports,” he said.

It is the best result, thanks to cooperation from the people, but we should not get complacent; we still have to be vigilant," he warned.

Meanwhile, 46 people have fully recovered and returned home, boosting patient recovery percentage to 94.27.

As of May 13, the total number of confirmed cases in the country still stood at 3,017 -- 117 are under treatment, 2,844 have recovered and been discharged, and there have been 56 deaths.

Dr Taweesin said that the first time the CCSA saw zero domestic cases was on May 4, but there were still reports in the state quarantine area. He said that people still need to be on guard since there are examples of new cases of infections in other countries.

Globally, there have been more than 4.3 million confirmed cases and around 292,000 deaths.

He said of the tested people, 34,444 met the test criteria. Of these, 63 confirmed the infection, a 0.18 positive rate.

Since February, 90 infected people were found in state and local quarantine sites, 98 per cent Thai, one per cent American, and one per cent British.

The countries from where most infections came were: Indonesia (70 people), United Arab Emirates (5), United States (5), Malaysia (4), Kazakhstan (2), Japan (2), Pakistan (2), UK (2), etc.

Dr Taweesin cautioned that no new cases did not mean Thailand had completely rid itself of the virus. People should not become complacent as there might be infected people who have not shown any symptoms yet.

Medical experts believe the symptoms take 14 to 21 days or more to show up.

That's my point they are not quoting how many have been tested. Might only be 3017 so the figures look good.
