Bangkok Bank, Branches open to open new account?

Featured Replies

Are the Bangkok Bank branches in Chiang Mai open, for new accounts to be made, or are the branches still closed?

TIA.

They're open - but - each seems to have a different criteria.....

I went to the Big C - MaeHia to open an account....The lady brought out a list and pointed out I needed to go to the consulate and get a notarized letter affirming my address, along with other documents = then, they would open an account.....She wasn't particularly friendly about it either.....I already had an SCB account & I didn't need to do that.....

I got in my car - drove to the next closest BKB at the Big C2 in Hang Dong and walked out in about 1/2 hour later with my new account book and debit card.....Handled by a cute, friendly, smiling gal....

2 morals to the story, 1 - don't take the first answer if it seems overly rigid....2 - the services & attitudes are a lot friendlier in the neighborhood branches.....

The malls offer more convenient days & hours but the staff always seems more tightly wound....

Not Bangkok Bank but may be useful for Big C Mae Hia.

Kasikorn Bank  provided an account with book and debit card in less than 15 minutes. Passport and 10,000 baht deposit which was available for immediate withdrawal.
