Dramatic Rescue as Car Crashes into Tree and Catches Fire in Kalasin
Picture from responders. A crash occurred in Kalasin province when a 21-year-old woman lost control of her car and crashed into a tree, resulting in the vehicle engulfed in flames. The incident took place at approximately 11:30 on 21st February near a PTT petrol station on the Kalasin–Somdet road in the Phon Thong area. According to reports from local police, Lieutenant Colonel Wipakorn Buaon received an emergency call about the incident and quickly coordinated with the Phon Thong fire department and local rescue units to respond to the scene. Upon arrival, emergency crews found a Toyota car, registration from Bangkok, severely damaged after colliding with a tree. Flames were rapidly spreading, engulfing the vehicle entirely. Firefighters worked for over 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze. Fortunately, local residents witnessed the crash and acted swiftly to rescue the driver before the fire could them. The injured woman, identified as Ananya Raiprasong, was pulled from the vehicle but sustained severe injuries, including fractures to both legs and various other bodily injuries. Medics from Kalasin Hospital provided first aid at the scene before transporting her to the hospital for further treatment. Abdulkarim Khan, a 54-year-old local meat seller who helped in the rescue, described the chaotic moment: “I heard a loud noise and saw the car speeding before it crashed into the tree. When I noticed smoke and flames starting to rise from beneath the car, I ran to help along with others in the area. We managed to get her out just in time.” Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident and reviewing CCTV footage from the area. Preliminary assessments suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle while driving at high speed. -- 2025-02-22
