i don't care to.  nor do i sign useless petitions to save the whales.

 

i'm not a chinese, i can't fix their system if it does need fixing.  that's their responsibility.  it's not my place to choose their system of government for them.  not sure that many want to change.  and change to what?  there are enough still around who lived through the cultural revolution that i don't think a violent overthrow of the ccp is going to happen anytime soon.

 

as for what i can change, i have my usa petition, my vote, which is for all intents and purposes just as worthless as the above petition, considering the options i'm given every 4 years.

For me, the China's political system is far superior to the one that my country, Malaysia, is having at the moment because China have highly competent leaders running their country.

The system that we have inherited from the British is the most stupid political system that I can think of. What's the point of getting to vote every 5 years if the elected representative decides to jump ship to another party overnight?

We can't get rid of our stupid system because there would always be enough MPs that would block the 2/3 majority needed to amend the Constitution. Also, our cabinet is full of incompetent ministers that often made fools of themselves with their idiotic ideas. If you think Trump is a fool, then you would understand how our political system is no different from the American one - both our systems have allowed incompetent or foolish people to become our leaders.

Our health minister has been nicknamed the "warm water" minister because he suggested drinking warm water often would protect us from getting infected by the virus that caused Covid-19. Luckily for us, we have competent civil servants to protect us from our stupid ministers. So currently, the popular face of our health ministry is the director general of the ministry and not the minister of health.

 

Not all our ministers are incompetent but many are. This is why I said our political system is a stupid one. No wonder the West wants China to change to their stupid system.

Some of the Euro countries which depend more on tourism income are trying to open for their major markets. It would be logical for the Thais to do the same for China, Japan and South Korea, probably the top 3 countries for numbers of visitors. However it much depends if these countries would allow their people to travel, and whether they would need quarantine when they come back. I don't think there would be much travelling in the next month or two.

the chinese system may seem nice and comforting in pandemic times, since they can fully control the population and order production at will.  if you sneeze in public, they can trace every movement you've made in the past 14 (or more) days, and everyone you came in contact with.  know every purchase you've made, every conversation you've had.  but it's always there, all the time, and it won't go away when the virus disappears.  normally you don't notice it, people rarely have much interaction with public security, there isn't a squad of jackbooted goons on every corner.  just a surveillance camera, and a traffic cop playing fruit ninjas on his cellphone.

 

democracy is messy, designed that way.  we have so many freedoms we don't know what to do with them.  people tend to focus on the freedom, and forget the responsibility part.

 

unfortunately we're now pretty evenly divided between democrats and republicans, although the parties themselves are pretty much interchangeable.  permanent gridlock.  and the politician are mostly in it for themselves, pandering for votes.  after the recent collection of fools we've called president, some might wish for....i dunno....a strong leader that rides horses barechested and fights tigers with his bare hands?

Two years ago, we voted out the long-ruling corrupt National Front government but now they are back in power, after some of the reps that we have elected jumped ship and allied themselves with the reps from the National Front. Many voters are disillusioned with the system that we have. Our votes mean jack <deleted> if the reps that we elected <deleted> on us the next day.

Also, we have the same problem like in the US - we can't really vote for a third party other than the two dominant ones because the stupid first-past-the-post system that we have inherited from the British would effectively make sure that we only can choose between these two dominant parties.

China being an authratrian country has made contact tracing and infection to the highest level and control the travel of their own citizens. If chinese ever come to Thailand, rest assured they are cleared by the Chinse authorities to travel.

There's an article on Pattaya News this morning 17/5 where Wuhan province has not been properly tested and a province in Northeast China has been put in lockdown.

Just goes to show how much information the Thai government is receiving about Covid19 and how much their digesting this information and to what ends they will go to maintain their number one status in the stupidity stakes. Due to China's lies about Covid19 they are the ones that should be the last taken off the list, wake up Generals this is about people's lives not about filling your pockets, you are supposed to be protecting your citizens not ripping them off

I think the same attitude reigns at Bank of Thailand.  As fewer and fewer Wuhan virus cases get reported, international investors think Thailand a stabile place to invest.  And the Baht remains higher than the 10-year average.

I am pretty certain that pigs are upset the Swine Flu is named for them. Same thing with the Bird Flu, Birds are so mad about it they poop all over the place. 

If the Chinese don't want a global pandemic named after them, maybe they should not eat bats and other wild animals. A little cleanliness would also go a long way.
