Covid-19: Nigerian man stuck at Suvarnabhumi airport enters his THIRD month

A Facebook post reported on by the Thai media claimed that a stranded Nigerian tourist has been living at Bangkok's main airport since March.

He is now entering his third month at Suvarnabhumi and there appears no end in sight though international flights might resume in July.

"Rasta JarGae" said on Facebook that the man got stuck in the airport while in transit.

But there was a silver lining in the long wait to get home - the kindness of the Thai people.

He has been supplied with food, drinks and bedding and changes of clothes. But he said he could do with a change of diet from instant noodles as he is getting a sodium overload.

The story was liked 1,200 times with 600 shares, reported Manager who said that many posters likened the man's predicament to being locked up.

Thaivisa notes that by far the largest number of foreign nationals in Thai jails are in fact Nigerians.

Thought the same thing straight away, but hope this guy doesn't try to help with any works going on there, as he will get nicked for no work permit in the blink of an eye.

Good work by the airport staff to keep him feeling human.

That's always been the case----when I used to visit Klong Prem Prison BKK for 6 years they used to have a black board up where they would write the number and nationalities at that time........the only time the Nigerians were out numbered  was when a large building project was coming to a close......... lots of Cambodians would then fill the prison until deported.

TM 30, 90 day report soon?

Somebody has his covid status been determined yet yet?

Id recon he is OK after 3 months.

Some high rank Minister should order an exception

Let him into the country and give him room and board at a semi-secluded beach

bungalow. Would be a positive feel good story for Thailand!

I read an article that a significant number of Nigerians is stuck in Thailand.

And their caring government wants them to pay upfront 297,600 "Nigerian Naira" (about 760 USD) to take them home. Harsh for many.

maybe he sent me that email - i won 1m in lotto

Read about this guy in a thai write up and it’s a lot different to what this OP is saying. The guy said he was deported from Europe and sent back to Nigeria via Thailand!!! And then as they (Nigeria) has closed the border, even for Nigerian nationals, he couldn’t get back in. The airline asked him for his ticket to Nigeria that he said he had, he then said he had lost it. How many other people reading this have caught on to this BS? How many people are deported from Europe back to West Africa Via Thailand??? Typical Nigerian scammer!!!

There are a lot of Nigerians stuck in Bangkok with no visas who can't get home.  They have been there for years. You guessed it, the Sukhumwit drug dealers !!

Maybe Immigration is confused because they’ve never seen a real, no-kidding, genuine, Nigerian…tourist…before.

There are and have been flights out of BKK during the last weeks. Guess he can't take them because he is not allowed to enter the destination countries.

They all should be blocked permanently

It can't be all bad, there must be SOMETHING there for him to steal, or someone to swindle.

oh yes ......   they never cheat, steal or lie from any farang.

ah thaivisa, let it all out, no really, just say what you think.

odd that those rascist thais you so like to decry haven't joined in yet though

nonsense .... it's due to either no flights, no funds or no proper documentation.

“Thaivisa notes that by far the largest number of foreign nationals in Thai jails are in fact Nigerians.”

How exactly is this relevant to this story again?!

How exactly do you know which story is true? Did they interview him on camera and you’ve seen the interview?
